I am fed up. It seems that every time I get to a certain level of fitness, I get sick and it always ends up as a respiratory issue. Last year, I tried to get my running on track but in the end the cold was bad for my lungs, also got H1N1. This year I am back in the pool since June and now again, hit with a 2nd bug. I have often wondered if I pooched my immune system after the 2nd Ironman (6 years ago). I was way over stressed (divorce, moving, job, blah blah blah) and trained and raced through it all for my sanity but I have struggled with my health since. Is this my imagination or have others experienced any ongoing health issues following an Ironman?
Went to physio today for the first time in years- back to the woman who held me together like duct tape through to the 2nd Ironman. The changes from then to now are huge! My body as a result of the little to no training/fitness has literally twisted itself- my posture is lousy, no core strength, shorter! As we talked about getting things sorted out so I can hopefully start running again, I was struck again by how hard it is to take alllllll those baby steps. I don't even want to be iron fit, just regular old fit where not everything jiggles and I have energy to do things.
This is not about the `pretty' thing, this is about how it feels to be in my skin from the inside out.
Frustrated.
