wetsuit for training
It is getting really cold and I was somewhat uncomfortable today on the swim. I've never used a wetsuit before and have a hard time imagining they could be comfortable for swimming but does anyone have any suggestions for a wetsuit to train in? I swim 4 days/week.

I would share mine to have the chance to swim outside. Reading your swim posts, I have outdoor swim envy...except for maybe the schools of fish....especially if it is murky...

I own a Nineteen Tsunami and love it. Some folks prefer the two pieces but can't say I have tried. Before you buy, most places will let you try them/rent them (which you may already know). Any you can borrow? They all fit so differently. For me neck comfort is important.

Once you get used to wetsuits they aren't uncomfortable. A couple of years ago training for a spring IM I swam in mine 2x a week and it was no biggie. Now I rarely wear it and it usually takes me a couple swims to get used to it. Finding one that fits is key. Trial and error is the only way to do that. There are so many brands and what fits one person might not fit another.

thanks everyone. I wore a tshirt one day and that really helped and when we go back to the US in December I'll definitely check some out. I still can't imagine actually swimming in one, though I can't imagine swimming in a tri suit either. :)

Two things:

1: try a rashguard (rashie). Check out http://www.girls4sports.com. Their stuff rocks. Some times all you need is a bit more coverage.
2: if you are going to swim in a chlorinated pool in your wetsuit, check into a surf wetsuit i.e.: just plain ole neoprene w/o the fancy yamamoto rubber etc. You could prolly find a used one for ~$100 and just swim the sh*t out of it. Save the good rubber for races or fresh water swims.

Good luck!
