I am preparing for IMCDA. Need to save finances as best as possible and I am a newbe.Using a road bike(Klein)due to best fit and also a road fits all my needs better at this time. I do not know much about tires and need to buy a set for the race(have 1500 on the ones I have)Please advise...On performance there is a sale for Michelean Axial Pro"s for $17.99....Supergo Vittoria open corsa cx twin $34.98 any other suggestions.

hutchinson carbon comp. @ performance around 25$ each (good tires, they wear out pretty fast.)
performance also sells one called the michelin high-lite prestige, not a bad tire for 20$. i got about 1500-1800 miles out of a pair.
michelin pro race (very good tire) 40$ each @ pricepoint.com

I think Michelin Axial Pros are fantastic tires. Especially for $17.99. You can't go wrong with those. They have a very smooth ride and are reasonably light weight. My favorite for training are Continental GP 3000s due to excellent durability, but if I raced on clinchers I would use Michelins--- I think they roll smoother than Contis.

My vote is for the Michelin's Axial Pro. Especially for that price.
