Beth Gerdes-Walsh was one of the DeSoto models a couple years back. She qualified for Kona this year. Pretty tough words saying that "not one of the female models looked like a triathlete".

I can only comment on THIS years current catalogue I did not see the others.

And I dont think Sarah Demerly is someone you would hold up as an example for this sport.

correct, there are def. women who compete in triathlons that do fit this description but there are also triathletes who are over 250lbs.
I think the original poster was pointing out that the measurements of the "typcial" tri female at the races she has seen; I have to agree with her, I don't think this is the typical body size of a triathlete when I look around the races I attend.
