Problems mounting Tufo tubulars
I've mounted a few tubulars before and pretty much have the hang of it. I was interested in comparing Tufo and Continental, so I brought a Conti Sprinter for the rear and a Tufo S3 lite (19mm) for the front. I pre-stretched both tires on my 404 rims for about 5 days at 100psi. No problem mounting the Conti. The Tufo on the other hand was a huge pain in the a**. Even after I managed to get it on, it was so tight, I couldn't get it straight. My plan is to leave it crooked and keep it inflated for a couple weeks then pull it and see if it has stretched anymore, so that I can mount it straight. Anybody else have this problem. I have old Tufo Jet Specials (19mm) that I use as spares and didn't have any problems with them.

Continental is coming out ahead here before I even get to ride.

Sorry to tell you this, but I've had the opposite experience. I found that the S3 lites are much easier to mount than the Conti Podiums I used to ride.

I've been using S3 lites this year and haven't had any problems mounting them so far.

Good luck!
