Looking for advice on a beginner's bike...
I know you all probably get this question alot, and I saw that article on what to look for in a bike, but I would just like a recommendation for my price range. I am fairly new to running (about a month and a half), but enjoying it alot, just ran a half in 92 minutes. Anyhow, I'd like to try out triathlons now, and I want to get a bike that will allow me to be somewhat competetive, at least against myself. I'm looking to spend between 1000-1500 dollars. I am a total beginner, the only riding that I have done is on a mountain bike..... Thanks for any advice on what bike(s) that I should consider.

Why not do a race or two on your mountain bike? Put slicks on and you'll be fine. Then see if you actually like triathlons and triathlon training and buy a bike then.

Listen to Cathy. She is right on target. see if you like the tri scene. If you do, you'll get plenty of opinions on bikes here. Good luck, and have fun. There is no better individual sport than triathlon.

I did my first few tri's on a mountain bike, just got to have slicks, get some pretty narrow ones. If at that point you still like to race and want to buy a bike, I would suggest that you forget about brand find a good bicycle shop and go to them and get measured and let them guide you to some brands that will fit properly. You will be much happier with a bike that fits well. Check out the revues on the bike shops of this website, hopefully you can find a good one in your area.
