Marathon Recovery?
All,

I just ran Grandma's marathon this past weekend. My legs aren't THAT shot. I usually run about 3:30's-- it was 85 degrees that day.. and I finished at 3:45.. I was pleased... but as you can imagine, I'm planning which marathon I'm doing next. How much time do you give you body to recover before say-- train again?

I've run two marathons; after each, 30 min run when I wake up the next morning. You could bike instead. But after the first marathon a friend pushed me out the door and siad my legs would feel better with a run so I did it :-) Then 3 days of no running, I'd swim. I like swimming ;-)

nice race.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I usually do not run for a week. But I will swim and bike.
Second week would be several short & easy runs and I would be back in in some kind of training mode by the 4 weeks after.

30 minutes of easy walking 5x a week for the first two weeks afterwards, with adding in some moderate swimming in week two. And then see how things feel from there.
