PAIN IN BACK OF KNEE
An aching pain in the back of my left knee flares up when I bend the knee and raise my foot past 90 degrees towards buttocks. I can walk, jog, swim, bike with little or no pain but when the foot goes past 90 the pain starts. Has anyone had similar condition and what was the diagnosis/treatment. Thanks.

There is a small muscle where you are describing your pain called the Plantaris. If you have somehow pulled it that would explain the pain there, as it contracts more as you bend your knee more. However, there are several other causes of the pain you are having. The more you bend your leg, the more contraction your hamstrings go into. Which also means the more your quads need to stretch, etc. There are several threads about this problem on the discussion forum of the Julstro Muscular Therapy website. These people are highly skilled at working with injuries with Triathletes (they wrote "The Pain-Free Triathlete). I believe you will find your answer there.

You can find the forum at www.julstro.com/18.html
