jay, i think he was joking... ;)

if not, maybe b/c then you catch 2 idiots at once???

i took it as a sarcastic joke though.

Also, irondad, he was selling a bike, or rather, numerous bikes under many different names.

all top end bikes for ridiculously low prices with no reserves.

the scary part is, he had up to 20 bids on some of those bikes, and nobody noticed he was a scam artist before they bid...

The one I noticed was the same auction for the Litespeed Vortex as before, all scrapped from Bicycle Sports. He/She did change their user name and changed the location to Quebec Canada.

The first thing I do when I see an item that catches my eye on Ebay is to search for the same thing in previous auctions (already complete). This does two things, it indicates the purchase history in dollars, and lets you see if that item has been auctioned before.

I was joking. But come on... I do not wish stupidity on anyone.
While Ebay may be good for some things. It is not good for complete bicycle purchasing unless you are 100% sure of what you want and need.

Here's the letter and reply I got back from him today:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Great deal on that bike, quick questions:
1. where are you located? I'd like to have the bike shipped from a dealership of my chosing to ensure it is in proper working order.
2. Are you a bike dealer yourself? Looks like you have quite a bit of knowledge regarding bikes.
Looking forward to your response!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear sir i`m a bike dealer bat for a mounth i`m in Romania at my brother .If you are interesting for thet bike the paymant will be via Western Union in 2 installments.

The two installments business is probably due to Western Union's maximum amount policies. You can only send up to $999.99 online within a 30-day period if you're a new user.

I know I spend too much time looking at bikes on ebay but this guy's persistence is uncanny.

Luntzy,

In case you did not see my post about it, you can report the guy at the Ebay "Safe Harbor" page by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page below:

http://crs.ebay.com/aw-cgi/ebayisapi.dll?crsstartpage

You have such sharp eyes that you may be able to convince Ebay to give you position for spotting these suspect posts!
