From what I hear, his lover is someone he hired into a 100k-a-year job as a security liason who happens to be Muslim and couldn't get security clearance from the US Dept. Homeland Security. Also, one of the planes that crashed on 9/11/01 (corrected date at slowguy's admonishment) happened to take off from somewhere in New Jersey. I'm not connecting any dots here, but they are starting to be connected by those partisans who wish them to be.

The shocker is that he resigned when disgraced. What a concept.

OK, I admit I never liked McGreevey, but I didn't expect a lawsuit/extortion from his gay lover to whom he gave a $100K plus no show job.

The financial corruption, yeah, I expected that.

Of course even the relatively honorable resignation is corrupted by the fact that he is going to try to stay in office long enough so his job transfers to one of his buddies rather than letting the voters decide via election.

This will be fun to watch.

With the way things are going today this guy may lose his family, but he's going to be financially set with book deals, interviews with all the Liberal Intelligentsia and the next poster boy for the Democratic Party as another disenfranchised gay man by the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Nevermind his resignation was HIS OWN CHOICE and no Republican had anything to do with it. It was his gay lover.

Note to Liberals, Democrats, Socialists, Anarchists, Commies, etc.: People (read Individuals) can and do think for themselves. You are not always right and I am not always wrong.

And given that McGreevey didn't take office until January 2002, your dot-connecting seems rather reckless, at best.

Then I remembered - my mayor lives in Florida six months out of the year. BUT before you jump on the anti Democratic theme, it was recently reported that the Burlington County Clerk of Court (I think that's his job) lives in a nursing home and only comes in to work 3 hours a day - for a $60K + job!

I used to live in NJ, and my wife grew up there. It is a sad state of affairs. The voters have no one to blame but themselves.

If you believe the Washington Times, NJ isn't even in the top 10 of most corrupt states. I thought my beloved KY would be in there, and it was. Our Gov had to resign for having 3somes with some bimbo in exchange for keeping her nursing homes open that were failing all their standards. He was cheating on his second wife, who was his ex-secretary that he cheated on his first wife with.

Frog, you really have to give some serious thought to whether you really like this guy, or whether you have just been snowed. I don't doubt he has a likeable personality, but put a time line together of his recent marriage, his new baby, his affair, 9/11, the appointment of his unqualified gay lover to handle homeland security in the wake of 9/11, the corruption that put him in office, and I think you will come to a different conclusion in the cold light of day.

He is a despicable human being who cares only about himself, and who uses those around him. Now he is trying to use the gay community to solicit support. Hopefully that ploy won't work.

It's a given therefore that you'll be at the forefront of people demanding that Porter Goss doesn't take up his new job? He has admitted he is unsuitable for the gig after all...

I think it would be a bit strong to say that NJ is the most corrupt, despite the fact that it does house the carting and trucking industries, as well as concrete and construction, etc.

Actually I was under the impression that Arizona was the most corrupt. You can bury a lot of things out in the desert.
