On the road, never. On the trainer, always. Too many things can happen too quickly while riding. I'll admit I hardly ever ride on the roads anymore -- it's mostly the Computrainer for me.

I do wear my iPod when I run, but I make sure to keep it low enough to be able to hear what's going on around me. I run in pretty populated places, so I feel fairly safe.

Listening to music on your bike out on the road is the worst thing you could do. You are taking too many risks and you can't do it in a race. Stick to the trainer!!

When I ride or run, I am as far off the road as I care to be and when a vehicle passes I just stay my course cause I have no where else to go and am comfortable where I am on the road. I was curious, what do you do different if you hear a vehicle coming as opposed to wearing an Ipod and not hearing it coming, but expecting vehicles to pass? Are you not far enough off the road that you move farther to the right every time a vehicle passes?

I understand if you are riding where you will be passed by other riders (heavily cycled area) that you need to stay to the right or be able to hear the call to move over cause they are passing on the left, and be alert to your surroundings, does that change if you are wearing an Ipod?

I was just curious, and no I don't wear or own an Ipod.
