"I won't be visiting that beautiful country again, but I do hope Lance kicks some serious butt in July."

Is that all this is about? I don't think Lance rides the Tour as the ambassdor of the USA. Let him do his job of riding his bike and don't mix sports with politics. If Lance wins in July and "kicks some butt" it will be his personal victory, not yours, not mine but only his.

his his

"I hope you gag on it. "

Not likely, because like their cuisine, the French are noted for making good wine, in case you didn't know. Sure beats McDonald's and Coke IMO.

You seem to be gagging on my point that a democratic elected French government can chose not to agree with an American president if that's what the voters want. Bush was only elected as an American president, not world leader. If other democratic countries disagree with his view on world policy then that's their right.

And it's my right to not buy products of any country who has stabbed us in the back and supported a malicious dictator in the process. It is also my right to dislike anyone such as yourself who supports such countries. Drink up loser.

Ever been to France Slick? Somehow I doubt it. Obviously you don't appreciate French wine even beore this happened.

Nobody says that you don't have a right to boycott French products if you chose but some of us think product boycotts and renaming French fries is a bit childish. Also France has not supported a malicious dictator. France has supported the UN in it's request for more time for UN inspectors, as did many other countries, even those now aligned with the US. Who helped put Sadam in power in the first place. The same CIA guys that trained Bin Laden, not France.

Also, I didn't actually say that I necessarily agree with France, but did make a point that you and other right wing billybobs should get used to - France is a democratic country with a democratically elected government and has a right to make their own decision on world issues.

No need for personal name calling. You just demonstrated what you're all about.

The old saying about discussions involving politics and religion sure seems to be applicable here. I've been reading some of these postings the past few days and figure no one will ever agree.... this issue is way too serious and there are too many people from all over the place on this site. Patriotism and what is viewed on CNN seem to influence any objectivity. Childish insults do not accomplish much to gain support for any arguments that you might make. Let's hope this thing ends quickly for the benefit of the soldiers, Iraqui civilians and this forum.

One comment about Canadian involvement (I am a Canadian). Our government has stated that it will not assist in any war that was not sanctioned by the UN.... however, there are still frigates in the gulf acting as escorts for US supply ships so I suppose that our "non-involvement" means ground and air forces only.

oh, and for all the americans out there who think that GW is such a great guy and his was is the best way....might i also point out that SADDAM WAS INSTALLED AS A DICTATOR by THE USA in the iran/iraq war era.

you guys "f***ed up" and this whole thing is basically your fault. so dont go blaming other countries for not taking responsibilty or action. (ie france)

The sensible course of action is not war, unfourtanetly we have passed that point already. Now lets just pray that it ends soon enough.

it also seems ironic that of all the nato countries, very few support this war, as do very few of the other countries in the world. seems to me like its the bully who is trying to get thier way, and if they dont, they are just going to try and beat up everyone else or take their ball home. bully's always have low self worth...maybe thats how the GW feels right now....

can anyone say small penis syndrome...hes trying to prove himself to daddy and the rest of the world

...

stop the pointless bitching.

i say to the next person who badmouths france..have you ever been there? i can also tell you that governments generally do not represent everyone's opinion in the country...here in canada, i hate cretien.

Bleeding heart anti-war liberal here, and the France 'fact sheet' gave me a couple big belly laughs. But then I used to have a library job working with government documents, and know exactly what State Department/CIA World Fact book entries they were parodying. (digs around)

For the basis of the parody, try:

http://travel.state.gov/france.html
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/fr.html

Dry as heck, and the travel warnings tend to be pretty much the government saying "don't say we didn't warn you"

redneck, finally someone here with a sense of humor. It looks like us three Canuks ganged up a bit on Slick, but let's not turn this into a name calling war. We've been at peace and have had great relationships with each other since after the War of 1812. Let's keep it that way. I suggest an immediate truce.

I think I heard the theme song to Deliverance in the background when reading Slick's post
