The Tilium Carbon SS is Spinergy's answer to a high performance-lower cost carbon wheel alternative.

Designed to be a cost effective training and racing high-end carbon wheelset, this new wheel is relatively unknown in comparison to models by Zipp, Reynolds, Bontrager, Mavic and HED.

Although Spinergy does not sponsor riders in the Tour de France to race on this wheel, you can be assured that the performance is top-notch. Spinergy keeps it's marketing and advertising costs low in order to pass the savings onto the everyday rider.

This wheelset is hundreds of dollars cheaper than other carbon wheels in it's class, yet it has all the bells and whistles of a top-notch racing wheelset.

I found it strong enough to be used every day for training yet light enough for the hilliest of courses. With a 43mm rim height, the wheelset can be used in higher wind conditions without the concern of crosswind handling. In addition to time trials and triathlon, these wheels can also double as road racing and criterium wheels, and they are even durable enough for cyclocross racing.

Rims: Tilium Carbon is an exclusive material design for Spinergy. Tilium is like no other carbon wheel because of it's metalized appearance. The rim has a 43mm aero section with a black anodized step to protect the carbon against brake pad mis-adjustment. The Tilium's carbon rims are completely foam filled.

Hubs: Custom US made alloy freehub system with vacuum seal. CNC machined hubs, with sealed cartridge bearings for minimal rolling resistance.

Spokes: Black bladed stainless steel aero spokes - 16 front/20 rear lower spoke count for increased aerodynamics.

Weight: Only 1699g per set (700c clincher). This weight includes the foam filled core and internal nipples, which are more aerodynamic than external nipples.

Sizes: 700c and 650c clincher.

Benefits of the Tilium Carbon SS over the Zipp 404 clincher:

1. Increased aerodynamics from lower spoke count and internal nipples.

2. Improved aesthetics, stiffness, durability and safety with the addition of a foam filled core (the Tilium SS is 69 gms heavier than Zipp 404).

3. Easier to handle in crosswinds (for lighter riders) due to lower rim height. The lower rim height allows the Tilium SS to double as road, crit and cyclocross racing wheels.

4. $550 less expensive than the 404's with high quality Spinergy skewers included.
