Need help identifying a stem
I've got a Ritchey Pro stem here and I need to get the next size shorter. Problem is, which size do I currently have and what is the rise? It came stock on a 2003 P2k. The only markings on the stem indicate that it is for a 26 diameter handlebar.

Length: I assume that I measure from center to center? But do I measyre the short way or the long way (measure the length for the positive rise or negative rise) or dead center/center? Measuring the long way I've got a 100, short way it looks like a 90.

I need a stem the will be horizontal. The P2k has a 73* headtube, this would seem to indicate that I need to get a 73*/107* rise stem? Eyeballing the stem, this seems correct and performance bike has a corresponding stem that seems to match http://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=14768

Finally, why the heck doesn't the stem have markings?[

Stems are measured center-to-center, based on the positive rise orientation - sounds like you've got a 90mm stem there. Since the head tube is 73 degrees, you'll need a stem with a 17 degree rise (flipped over, thus -17 degrees) to get it horizontal. I believe most stems have a 16 or 18 degree rise, but what's plus or minus a degree?

I have a stock 2003 P2K and Ritchey Pro stem is 100mm (10 cm) as I believe all stock P2K stems are.
