Photos update from super extensions topic......made my own width adjust plates. Will add stack to be able to add bridge back, likely no need that low just trying things out during assembly.......

Made it, if you hunt my username there's a topic on Slowtwitch about making it. Easiest cheapest major bling factor ever. I think I said I had $75 into that thing.

Hi All,

Picked up a Giant Trinity Pro 1 2020 vintage a couple of weeks back.

Might sound stupid but having trouble attaching the aero hydration system. Appears the existing bolt on the stem/basebar and also used to attached the hydration clip to the base-bar/stem is not long enough to reach the thread with hydration clip.

Is this me being stupid or do I need a longer bolt?

Thanks,
Nathan

I can't help directly, because I sold mine.
However, if you take and post pics, I'm sure someone else can quickly set you right.

No, you're smart. Giant is stupid.

I had to go to buy the longer screw for the clip that goes on the fork headset area. The bolt included in the kit I bought was too short. That or the parts picker wherever the kit is assembled is an idiot.

My kit did include the correct length longer bolt for that plastic piece that goes on top of the stem. But that is longer also, and also needs a nice size washer so the bolt doesn't dig into the plastic.

I use it for long rides in summer then take it off to race TT.

Tip for removing the thing easier after a ride to wash it, unclip the straw stuff completely and the lock plastic piece that holds it to the stem comes off easier. The whole plastic rectangle that holds the straw grommet in place. It's a tolerance/interference thing.

I think you used the Giant Bridge between your aerobars, can you confirm?

Has anyone else fitted the D2Z angled shims on their Trinity?

Me? Yes. For the folks using the hydration, to use the bridge and the hydration you have to have the bridge high enough to clear the plastic cap on the nose that holds the hydration module in place. Otherwise it hits the plastic cap.

The sensors are all about putting on your scientist hat and setting up good laps/tests and looking at the software after. It's great for me, but can see how it isn't for everyone. There are road blocks and frustrations sometimes with data, but it's fun.

That's the Aliexpress "off shift" made Revolver trispoke you see all the pros using right now. Unbranded. 27mm wide. Can run tubeless.

Hi Does anyone have a spare straw holder for the nose cone hydratoin they would be will to sell, give away (I am in the UK)?
It is the small black rubber aero foil part with a hole thru it.
See item 2 on this page https://www.giantbikespares.com/...oduct_detail/3-42936
The straw keeps droping back into the bottle without it but seem such a small part to be missing to warran buying a new full system.

Cheers

Apologies for the general reply - what’s the height difference with the higher stem vs the lower stem does anyone know ?
Picked up a 2018 medium trinity on the cheap and she is wayyyy too tall. My stack is around 630-640mm reach around 450 give or take 10mm either way to back of pad give or take….I’m hoping a medium trinity 2018 will hit this.

You mean the tri vs tt versions? In photos it appears about 25mm.

Either way many of the TT version owners add back a good amount of stack. To the extent they sell a “superstack” set of aftermarket longer bolts.

These carbon wasp extensions look very nice. It seems it may be pretty close aerodynamically if you can get a traditional round aero bar right under the pad. Are there any angled risers/adapters that will hold both the pad and the extension for the giant trinity tt? I just purchased one and it should be arriving this week.

Also - is the seatpost for the Trinity TT only come in one size or are there longer lengths available?

Thanks!

adjustability [ In reply to ]

been looking at the Trinity for a while but keep coming across a number of negatives, most recently the lack of adjustability upfront (Blumenfelt thread and some recent pro video reviews). With the 2021 Trinity Advanced (the cheaper one basically), would it not be possible to just completely change everything from the stem to a Profile Design setup (handle bars, aero extensions, hydration etc), thus negating the lack of adjustability?

Since it's a normal stem/basebar clamping scenario. Yes.

For the owners of the Pro version, I can't really shed a tear with adjustability complaints. If you can afford that bike you can afford what it takes to change the cockpit. I guess, if your sponsor is THAT strict you can't update that stuff I'd have a serious chat with them about letting you run blacked out cockpit parts.

I have the Giant Trinity TT version, but I do mostly triathlons. I have tried a few BTA bottle solutions, but none have really worked (I tried the Profile Design mount, I currently have the D2Z mount but it wont work if I move my armpads, and I used Zip Ties but it moved too much getting bottle in and out). I want to try the Aerovault, but I know the stems are different. Would I be able to just change the stem on the TT version and then add the aerovault?

I had similar challenges with my 2011 Advanced Trinity SL, so I decided to create my own. I just measured up a simple flat (5mm thick) carbon fiber plate, similar in design to the Tririg Alpha BTA Mount and commissioned a local business to cut the design using their fancy cutting machine. Cost about $100, but im sure you could get it much cheaper. Works a treat. I just attach my cage to the plate and the bridge increased the stiffness of my front end. Its rock solid and fits perfectly.

I own a Pro TT, not the tri version of the bike. I run the vault in training sometimes or doing a local duathlon. I bought the size vault for my frame (they're different part numbers by frame size), and use it with the TT stem fine. You just have to run the vault without the fancy looking slide on bottom piece that snugs in to the curve of the top of your wheel/tire. That extra space is because you have the TT stem versus the tri version. Which is fine.

Otherwise, the vault kit works fine. Depending on who built your bike, you may need to re-arrange the order of the fork's stem spacers. They're different lengths and the order matters for mounting the vault's lower support piece.

Other caution, I got my vault through the local Giant dealer. The kid didn't include the correct length longer stem bolt for the top vault mount point on the plastic piece nor the longer flathead screw for the lower mount on the fork. I had to toss the wrong ones out that came in the kit and go to the hardware store or Amazon for the correct length screws. The lower one HAS to be longer due to the new mount piece being there so it doesn't fall out mid-ride. Which is how I figured out the screw in my vault kit was too short!
