Depends on what you want out of it. The device still acts as a (crappy) HRM even without a subscription. You need the subscription for access to any of the more sophisticated analytics.
But if you're getting a subscription, you get a new watch anyway. And the only watch you can get now is the 4.0. Which won't ship for weeks.
You might be able to contact them directly and turn on a new membership for a used 3.0. But I'm not sure it's really worth it given what's well known about the 3.0.
My 3.0 experience was bad enough I feel guilty about trying 4.0...but I signed up anyway. Also why I essentially gave away my 3.0. It's a hot mess.
