race reports
HI all

I registered triathlonracereport.com. Idea is to build a website where people can review races and put up a race report.
Any ideas on what should definetely be included? Or tips on which platform to use...

I know you are all half pro athletes that do not write race reports anymore but lesser gods still do ... ;-)

cheers

Get everyone to rank different aspects of the race such as organization, location, atmosphere, difficulty etc then come up with an overall score to rank each race. Make it easy to filter races, so people can find hilly/flat courses, ocean/lake swims etc. Also add in elevation gain for each race if possible. Check out findmymarathon.com, I use that a lot when deciding which marathon to do.

Neat idea!

I would also include a category for athlete type.

Being able to search/sort/filter by
1) race location
2) race distance
3) race type
4) athlete type/experience level - If I'm a newbie looking for info on a local race I wouldn't gain much from reading a pro's report on the race. Vice versa too, if I'm a pro I won't get a lot out of a beginners race report
5) organizer - some people consistently put on good events so if I wanted to enter a Multisport Canada event I could look and see how their other events are run as well
6) course difficulty - if I'm new I might pick a course with a gentle elevation profile. If I want to put the hurt on, I might choose a hilly one especially if you have high power/weight ratio
7) cost - I'm on the fence about it, but it's all out there already. Ideally people choose events because they work for them, not what's cheapest
8) cumulative score of the above categories

My 2 cents. There's probably other categories too. I like the idea, and would check it out and contribute.

Great idea!

It was reading a race report on IMC that pushed me one step closer to doing it.

Since then, I have written some version of one for 90% of all the races I do.

I also get my athletes to write one up as part of their post-race homework.

Since you are just getting things started here, just a comment.

I think there are different types of race reports.

Some comment on the race itself (course, hotels, cost).

Some comment on what the athlete learned from the race (training, equip, health, race day execution, lessons learned).

Some do both (and are v. long!).

Some do ___________________.

Maybe we could think of some catchy categories for these??

I think my Norseman report last year falls into that category!

I think it's a great idea. You could consider the use of tags to highlight what your report particularly covers, eg #logistics #gearing #afterparty..!

Cheers, Rich.
