I’m surprised IMTX/ Waco70.3 have been radio silent and it’s now a month out. No course info, nothing 😂. I’m going to just show up with whatever fitness I have and give it a whirl. No expectations other than finish and have fun.

Let’s assume the typical “the city is behind this so Ironman is going ahead with the race” mantra that we’ve heard for the last six months.

The timing is going to be a problem. The opening of schools, colleges, and universities, Labor Day shenanigans, relaxed reopening policies by state governments, and increased indoor activity as weather cools down are certainly going to cause infection rates to increase. They’d have better odds having the race now than in the next month or two. Numbers are as good as they’re going to be right now. That simply isn’t going to last.

The lack of volunteers is likely an insurmountable problem as well. This doesn’t get mentioned enough.
