Itā€™s surprising to me that imaz 70.3 is not canceled yet.

Iā€™m surprised IMTX/ Waco70.3 have been radio silent and itā€™s now a month out. No course info, nothing šŸ˜‚. Iā€™m going to just show up with whatever fitness I have and give it a whirl. No expectations other than finish and have fun.

Letā€™s assume the typical ā€œthe city is behind this so Ironman is going ahead with the raceā€ mantra that weā€™ve heard for the last six months.

The timing is going to be a problem. The opening of schools, colleges, and universities, Labor Day shenanigans, relaxed reopening policies by state governments, and increased indoor activity as weather cools down are certainly going to cause infection rates to increase. Theyā€™d have better odds having the race now than in the next month or two. Numbers are as good as theyā€™re going to be right now. That simply isnā€™t going to last.

The lack of volunteers is likely an insurmountable problem as well. This doesnā€™t get mentioned enough.

4) There are still 18 races that remain on the 2020 schedule in the US. IM desperately wants to host a race, any race. Its dependent on each city/state. The current dates for TX and Utah races are still being viewed as "strong" possibilities, there are now 10 on their list they hope to hold.

Do we know what other races are part of the 10 they hope to hold?

Here are the remaining US races (from the website, I only count 13). Anyone want to wager to bet the 10? Or what if/any are actually held?

Back in early August WTC was hoping to have 10 USA races. Looks like max of 5. Will the other 2 go off this year? What will be the first USA IM / 1/2 IM of 2021?

1st Full Texas
1st 70.3 STG

That is my guess, as much as I want Oceanside, California is just too risk averse.

I think it's weird we haven't heard much or had much discussion on Texas 70.3. As far as anyone knows, is this race going to happen this weekend?
