Lucy Gossage has both. She is a medical doctor, with a PhD- she's an oncologist.
In the UK you do your medical degree as an undergraduate and then after working for a few years, most people do a masters degree +/- PhD while specialising.
My understanding is that after you finish your MB (undergraduate work) you can then proceed to either do a 3-4 year PhD or an 2 year MD degree on top of being a physician. So some doctors are physicians who also have an MD degree and others are a physician who also have a PhD degree. I from her bio as well as the GMC registry it looks like she went the PhD route and has specialized in medical oncology. She is a medical doctor, but it doesnāt appear that she also has the MD degree
Itās semantics, which I why I posted earlier about the if they OP os looking for triathletes that are MDās. Is it the degree itself or are they trying to find out which ones are medical doctors as in physicians. Some US based physicians are DOās and some UK based physicians are MB/PhD. Both are medical doctors and the equivalent to an MD even though they are not technically an āMDā which is a degree
