What do you do with your 'old' wetsuits?
I've been in triathlon for 12 years and, as you might expect, I've accumulated a few suits that I will never wear again. I'm ready to get these out of my closet! Please help. Thanks.

I gave a few to a friend who does canyoneering. There can be some tight rocky squeezes so he goes through suits.

Are they in decent shape and need just some small repairs, or are they totally worn out?
Could someone else wear them?

I keep one as a backup suit. The rest I donated to the local college tri team.

The old quick jon from the 80s is still hanging in the garage. I envision giving it some kid some day. My QR sleeveless from 2001 i used quite a bit this summer. I really enjoy the freedom of no sleeves. Then there is the Roka with the sleeves,,,,,its ok. Three wetsuits in 35 years. By the way, I have a slightly used j-disc for sale and a bikestream?

There's a group in Chicago called Tri-Masters that would love to take them off you hands. Here's some info about them:

“TRI…and you can MASTER anything in life.”
We seek to foster the life-long benefits of a healthy body and disciplined mind by promoting the fun and challenge of the sport of Triathlon. Our special purpose is to encourage and support Triathlon participation among youth within the African-American and Latino-American communities, but we encourage membership of all interested individuals without regard to race, creed, color, or national origin.

MISSION
The Tri-Masters Sports Initiative Programs’ mission is to expose inner-city youth and families to the benefits of health living through the sport of triathlon. The program’s goals are:

1) To facilitate multicultural communication through participation in public sporting events,
2) To develop leadership abilities among program youth,
3) To identify practical approaches to alcohol/tobacco/drug prevention education and
4) To provide physical activities to reduce youth obesity within target communities.

If you'd like contact info, let me know.

I cut one up and used it as disposable supercharged arm warmers and leg warmers during a particularly chilly Ironman Lake Tahoe race -- the one where the lake was covered in fog and the mountains were covered in snow.

I was still cold.

A friend runs a tri team so I gave them to him to let any of the younger people getting into the sport use if they don't have one. What isn't useful for me anymore is more than enough for a beginner.
