Well, a 5 year old article is fairly new in the grand scheme of the universe.

And honestly who cares what Scott does. Finding a dealer in the US is pretty dang tough. Then finding a dealer in the US who understands tri bikes is even a bigger ask.

Scott has a pretty good product but their marketing & pull through in the US is shit on their best day.

They do really cool stuff marketing-wise for their mountain bikes... but yeah, they're not really a major player in terms of road bikes in the US. They're on the same category as Trek and Specialized from the standpoint that they offer everything across the board, but competing against those two + Giant can't be easy.

I hope there's a new TT/Tri bike sometime soon, there was rumor of one being in the works for Kona last year, but of course, that didn't happen. Also hoping they go back to offering framesets!

My LBS confirmed with me last week there was a new plasma. Scott had a big event about a month ago where they showed off their new bikes. There has been a lot of fuss over some MTB. The info I got was that is it’s being launched in 3 spec levels. The base level model won’t be disc however. The mid spec level I’m told is yellow and black

If you want to buy a Plasma from a shop that knows triathlon, check out Endure It! in Naperville, IL. The only other brand they carry is Cervelo.

I've been all over the world, stopped in numerous bike (and running shops) and have yet to find a dealer stocking Scott tri bikes or a dealer who understands triathlon that stocks scott bikes.

Maybe I need to broaden my travels, maybe Scott sucks at educating their dealers/getting tri bikes in their hands, maybe (probably it's a combo of both)

N=1

I work 1-2 days a week in a shop, we stock Scott MTB. Currently about 6-7 on the floor. Also stock Cannondale, Cervelo, yeti, Salsa and others.

Scott MTB has a pretty strong/reasonable presence here, they also make really good e-bikes.

I am actually stunned given the investment and lack of return that companies are still innovating TT bikes.

Basically just on complete bike sales, ebikes are now the number one category...maybe tied with gravel/adventure/bike packing bikes....we sell a lot of salsas.

Road/tt now make up a pretty small portion of overall sales.

But that’s not what you wrote. You made it very clear that as you think it’s difficult to get Scott bikes in the US no one anywhere should care about a new bike Scott may be releasing.

And, let’s be honest, the knowledge of bike fit, especially tri bike fit, in most shops is limited, at best. I wouldn’t trust any of my local shops with that. I’d go and get fit with a specialist and then buy a bike that works with that fit. So, for anyone who operates in a similar way (which is what’s recommenced throughout this forum), lack of knowledge of the shop is irrelevant. It’s quite simply, does the bike fit and can they get one?

So, it’s nothing to do with how far you’ve travelled. I was more making a slightly sarcastic dig at the incredibly US centric attitude of many on this forum.

Has a bit of an “open mold” look to it but I’d wager it’s fast. Looks reasonably practical too.

Jeez dude, seriously?

I should have put tri bikes in that sentence, which giving the conversation I thought had a pretty reasonable chance to be understood. My bad.

I'll go flog myself....if I find a Scott plasma in the next 10 bike shops I visit anywhere in the world. Since I've got at least 2 countries left to visit this year fingers crossed for a flogging

A Scott rep told me the top model will come in at a minimum of $20,000.

Frame will be $5500 in USD. I just placed my shop's preseason for two frames last week. The top level build is looking like $14k (so par for the course for a flagship build, it seems).

Seriously, don't take me too seriously.
