A friend of a friend said they were going to Kona to participate as part of a relay team. I've never heard of relays at Kona. Is this a thing? Is it charity slots? Maybe helping para athletes?

No kidding, that would be fun. Think they would have to go to the two day format though, not likely to add to the existing one day race. Maybe we could all go with the women on day two!!
