Kipchoge do Kipchoge things.

Lucy Charles DNF at Mile 13. Supposedly sick all week. Really wanted to see what she could do here.

Washed up footy player turned Triathlete.

Kipchoge is just in another world. 10 wins in a row and had won 11 of the 12 marathons he’s entered. The only loss being 2nd in 2013 in Berlin when Kipsang set the then world record.

The guys seems like such a class act in all of his interviews and at the end of races as well. I’m a fan.

I know it seems like he likes to do the fast courses (and some of that is probably a financial decision), but it would be cool to see him do Boston one year

Her 5km and 10km splits were avg 3.31 / km and 3.37 / km. Not sure how sick she was as this would imply she was aiming for a 2 hr 28 min / 30 min finish. Would never have put her at that kind of time. She went down to 4.08 before she DNF just after 1/2 way.

Chrissie’s splits on the other hand were just slightly positive 3.58 min / Km at 5 km to 4.05 km avg at the finish.

Mo’s 2hr 05 min had nothing to do with his on going public spat with Haile Gebrselassie apparently which I believe as didn’t see him doing much better than this. Kipchoge is a total different league.

There is no way Lucy runs a 2;28. She is just too heavy. She's 10+ kilos heavier than most women marathoners who run 2:2x range. Its just physics. Nothing against Lucy, as I am in the fan club and want to see her win Kona. Lucy is also too big to be a gymnast or diver. It's just the way it is. Horses for courses. She's not designed to be an elite marathoner.

Not trying to make excuses for anyone, but maybe going in sick she decided beforehand that she was going to bin it halfway and just went for it as a hard training session?

I recall Mo doing that at London a few years ago as part of his transition from track-to-road.

Can't find her splits to see how badly she was tanking and can't find much on social media but could be a possibility.

^ Think this is the only explanation that makes sense. If you down load the London Marathon app you can find the splits via the tracking function.

Most of the elevation loss on the course comes in the first 10k so that may well skew any calculations based solely on those splits.

She got beaten by a dude in a wedding dress, and a dude in a lab coat
