Pulling the plug on Boston Pity Party
While logging a good amount of miles over the winter in preparation for Boston, I managed to slip on the ice and badly sprain my ankle 5 weeks ago. I did a couple of faster test runs on it including an attempt at 8 miles at race pace yesterday .... still can't drive hard off the sore ankle so I end up with a messed up and unbalanced stride which causes opposite hamstring to seize up. After the run yesterday I decided to pull the plug and felt crappy about it.... and of course, today I got my Boston Participants guide in the mail .... oh well, once it gets better I should have a decent base for tri season. Good luck to all the rest of the 100/100 participants next week ... wish I could be there to join in the fun and meet some of you!

Feel for you and know exactly how you feel. Sprained mine pretty bad doing hill repeats 4 weeks ago, decided to opt out. Probably could trudge through it, but that's not the course to do it on. Rest and recovery and come back stronger. Thumbs up!

Sorry to hear. Sprained ankles can be worse than broken ones. Wife sprained her ankle in city league basketball this winter. She still can't run.

Running on icy trails
I've hurt my leg!

I'm pulling the plug on Boston, whoa
I'm pulling the plug on Botson, whoa
I'm pulling the plug on Boston, whoa
I'm resting up to find my healthy leg.

That's a major bummer. I hope your ankle gets better soon.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I'm just going to go ahead and turn off the internet for the rest of today. This is without a doubt the highlight :)

Ha, I did the exact thing mentally. At first I understood Pulling the plug on [Boston Pity Party], partly because of capitalization. And I thought "What is the Boston Pity Party?" Then, after reading the thread I thought "Do people refer to the Boston Marathon as the "Boston Pity Party?"
Then I ran through all the possible ways of understanding the title and found the intended one. :)

To the OP, sorry to hear about your ankle. Best of luck healing!
