Big fail this week.

I'm only swimming 3x these days. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Overslept on Wednesday. Thought, "no big deal... I'll swim tomorrow." made it to the pool on Thursday to find it closed due to a plumbing failure.

Today...

1000 ez swim
1000 mod pull
1000 hard pb+pads

37m bike
5m run with 8x1' @5k (5:55) pace

Good day today. Bummed I bailed on the mid week swim.

don't be too hard on yourself - sleep is important for quality training.

There’s a really cool set-up at the Mary T Meagher pool in Louisville. It’s 50m by 25m, wall-to-wall. 11 lanes across. For much of the year, there is a temporary “bulkhead” in the water that divides the pool. On one side is a 25y section (with deep water and blocks for college, HS, USA meets, and training). On the other is a 25m section (the difference in a 25y and 25m pool is almost exactly 7’). One section of this bulkhead was removed to allow for 5 x 50m lanes, and 6 x 25y and 25m lanes).

I think that if I had to means to build a pool, I’d do it like this one. No need to worry about it being flashy and world class for meets. Just a great place to train, for all levels of swimmers. I’d have the water a bit cooler in the main tank, probably 79-80. I’d have a smaller, 4-5 lane, 25y pool for instruction and warmer water. 11 lanes, each over 7’ wide (25m is 82 feet), a minimum depth of 4.5 feet, max depth of 13’, maybe diving boards so I can rent space to HS swim teams, good blocks.

I got to swim long course this morning.

1000 warm-up
500 snorkel
500 snorkel and buoy
10 x 100 @ 1:30 (1:19-:22)
500 swim
300 snorkel and buoy
5 x 200 @ 3:00, paddles (2:40-:42)
4 x 200 as 50 back, 50 breast, 100 free
400 swim

6000 lcm

Tough one for me today:

400 wu
16x100 on 1:50 coming in at 1:41
100ez
10x50 (:15) @ 0:47
100ez
8x25 (:25) @ 0:19
100 cd

3000scy

It seems weird to me that the 16x100 was so much tougher than 2x1000 straight (on Saturday) at the exact same pace. Hmmm...
