Race week at Ironman Texas where do most people swim? I read in the athlete guide that you can't swim at the race site outside of the organized pre-race swim. Is there a pool or other open water spot near the race site?

This place is only a few miles from the start and near several hotels. http://natatorium.conroeisd.net/ It was closed for remodelling last year during race week.
I also bike the large parking lot around the aquatic center and football stadium for some outdoor rides without any traffic as we stay a couple blocks from there.

Round and round I go. It was a good way to get some extra miles in during the evening while waiting for them to finish up practice. Brutal in the summer though with no shade.

Awesome, thanks!
I know this is common sense, but make sure to look at the swim map. It is not exactly straight angles. And don't look at the water in the canal, it is nasty and you will not want to swim in it.
