I have mixed feelings about this, i've spent time in African and Middle Eastern countries where bribery and corruption is the ONLY way to get business done. I was lucky enough to be present at a meeting after the British Government instituted anti corruption measures forcing British companies to not use bribery to get new contracts. I spoke with a high ranking telecoms executive who explained how pointless it was for his company to compete against the French and German companies who were using every means at their disposal to win a substantial contract.

Having said that, i'm getting tired of companies based in Quebec being treated differently by a series of Canadian Governments with constant bail outs..looking at you Bombardier.

We'll have to see what the ethics commission unearths... this case predates Trudeau and goes as far back as Chretien and Harper's entire tenure.

It may stain both major parties.

Long Chile was a silly place.

I work in the automotive supply chain. I'm not against bail outs, but only as long as the company actually corrects the action that brought it to the brink. Bombardier never seems to learn. They are ALWAYS late with delivery, there are always problems with the product and they are too expensive. Simply writing a blank check for bad behavior never corrects the wrong.

Ford/GM/Chrystler are also in this boat. We need to have skilled manufacturing in this country, but I'm getting sick of us repeating the same action expecting a different outcome.
