New to the Forum

Hi,

My name is JC Boyken I am 22 years old. I am studying engineering at WVU and I started triathlon sometime earlier this year as a slow progression from pure running. Right now I am still training on a borrowed bike and soon I will be getting a new bike. I have many questions about triathlon mostly bikes and bike fit but I wanted to introduce myself before I started asking questions. Thanks in advance to all.

Use the Search function. It will provide hours of really good info on a lot of topics. But if you don't see what you're looking for, ask away.

That’s hilarious! The search function? On this site?

You’ll use it, not find what you are looking for cuz it’s old, not relevant, or 20 people give 30 conflicting answers, so you’ll just ask anyway.

But before the op delves too deep, just know that your seat is too high, disk brakes are evil, and you are required to make at least one post containing the word “Lionel” per day,

Also a new kid on the block, but if I can give you a advise: apply "Watch thread" if you like one, instead of bookmarking. You'll get a e-mail when there's an update and you have a handy overview list on this forum.

You should also learn how to swim. You'd be surprised as to how many triathletes overlook that simple fact.

Take a short break from ST and read my blog:

I'm pretty new to the forum also. I "found" it exactly 3 hours AFTER I spent 7k on a new TT bike. Let the second guessing begin!

Actually I wouldn't change much about my equipment decisions so it was nice to get a confirmation. But here are the highlights of what I have found useful:
  • All the bike fit articles are a must read before you pay big bucks for a bike fit. Be an educated customer.
  • The "Post your average power" thread is an interesting window into how other athletes are doing with what they have to work with.
  • Race day details and equipment choices for different situations. Learn from others.
  • The Trek Speed Concept owners thread - if you're a Trek guy.

And of course hanging around a bunch of self centered obsessive athletes is always fun too!

Fresh meat for the grinder! We'll get him as jaded and cynical as the rest of us in short order.

Probably not as many as he does. Assuming he has teeth.

You left off the word "other". Since you're on this site, you must be one of us. Also, Lionel says to swim more.

I'm closer to the feathered end of the spear than the point.
