I don't for definite, but I'd expect so. 1.) I'd expect the same choice of stems, accessories etc that you dont get the option to select yourself on the ecommerce site and 2.) I was told all the bikes were built specific to the order in Germany before shipping out.

You could email Canyon and ask? I found they were super responsive and helpful.

Will do. Thank you again.

Well... just to keep everyone in the loop, THEY WILL NOT.

I went yesterday to visit their showroom in Carlsbad, CA... such a waste of time from my side. They have no Speedmax whatsoever, just a 3D copy of the 2016 Frodeno's Speedmax, period, no bikes to test or check to find out which size fits you better.
They also told me that the speedmax will come fully assembled from Germany, so no "own build options" will be available, it is what it is.

I went there because I'm having a hard time picking S or M size since 1cm up or down it changes the size for me based on their PPS system.. well, they couldn't answer that for me and the conversation ended up with a "We have one guy 3cm shorter that you which is riding an S, so you can try to buy an S and if it is too short go get a longer steam which it is available to be bought..". So my biggest question wasn't really answered. Having some bikes to ride in the showroom would have really helped.

When it comes to the stock...every other minute the same line came into the conversation "You know, we are very small in USA...", "We are bringing 4/5 bikes but we are expecting hundreds of people trying to buy them"... "We do not know when the next batch of bikes will come after this upcoming one..".
Knowing that there will be hundreds of people waiting for the bikes to show up and the fact that these guys have friends and relatives... honestly, I have lost all the faith in my possibilities. I cannot wait for another 3 months to get (Or not) my new bike so I've decided to go with the Trek Speed Concept which will have $400 off for black Friday :-)

I guess there will be 2 or 3 years before Canyon is really available in USA.

Hey everyone!

I just got off the phone with Canyon, and I just ordered the rear hydration bottle "thingy"! They have a whole bunch of accessories and replacement parts in stock, so feel free to call & order.

Been a similar vibe fro. My interactions with Canyon USA regarding buying an Ultimate. They cannot get bike/ frames in stock and trying to get an idea beyond “soon” or “next quarter” is impossible. If they could get a shipment of 12 aeroroads, speedmaxes and ultimates each week they would sell out. Instead they just trickle in here and there...it’s like they aren’t even trying to make a go of it in the us. If this was 3-6 months into the us market you could cut them slack but it’s been what, 18 months?

Are their any rumours of a Speedmax CF SLX disc version in the near future? I'm looking to buy a speedmax CF SLX around X-mas/NY but would wait a few weeks if there would be a disc version coming soon

The new 2019 colour schemes and cockpit designs were released at Kona.

We'll probably have to wait until next year.

Cockpit changes are independent of brake type, so I wouldn't be shocked of they rolled out disc mid-season to stagger development

Well I'll need to buy one before next summer, so I might not have the time to wait very long. Some brands have made the step towards disc brakes (BMC, Speciliazed, Quintana Roo, ..) while other wait and I can't seem to find why as disc brakes have better braking performance in any conditions over rim brakes

Does anybody have any thoughts on when Canyon might get some of these in stock? There seems to be some good demand for this bike, but they never have any to sell. I've tried calling twice in the past, but both times they can't give an answer. And the email notice thing hasn't worked, like others have experienced. I may have to get a different bike, but if they are getting some in the next few weeks I could wait.

I think the fact that they can't give you a straight answer tells you all you need. I can't imagine how much business they've lost because they can't get their act together. I'd buy one if I could, but I can't so I'll end up buying something else.

Sounds like they're selling all they can produce. That's a good thing, from a company perspective.

Not if you're barely producing. I don't know their numbers, but it sounds like they have very limited quantities. If that's their business model, that's great, but I would think they would want production to match the demand---or at least come close to it.

Not necessarily.

it's expensive to produce new products, and risky. They might be OK with a strategy of being a relatively boutique, highly regarded brand.

Their products look good. I'm seriously considering them for my next mountain bike, and if I do land on them as being my ideal, I have no problem jumping through a few hoops to get it.

Hey @Mdiaz. Have you been to a Professional Bike Fitter who can help you with you size doubt?

Canyon system is kind of a guess based on what they sell and it seems to work for their general clients.

On a speed weapon like that I wouldn´t make the terrible mistake of maybe going for the wrong size.

As a (independent) fitter, I wouldn´t let a client buy with doubts, so I use a Size Cycle (a Retül Müve in my case).

Just today I had a client in for deciding on which bike to buy for his 2019 season, and we ended up deciding on a Speedmax CF SLX Large, already knowing base bar, spacer height, and that he is going to use the 7º angled spacer. We achieved an awesome position as he´s been having some trouble with both his hips (we´re at 21/22º back angle and he feels very comfortable). We ended up testing a 170mm crank, which helped with what we wanted thinking about his injuries.

Not going for a pre-purchase bike fit before buying integrated expensive speed weapons is what I call a "dumb-saving" (translation from Portuguese, sorry), as If you end-up with the worng bike and/or size, you'll spend much more time than you would´ve spent if you had a fit before.

BTW, this thread is looking great. Helped me with differences from <2018 to the 2019 cockpit changes that are not in the Canyon Website.

Not sure if this adds much to your choices, but.......
I ordered the L bend extensions today from Canyon USA. I am much more comfortable on these bends the the stock shape.

Nice!

UPS says mine is delivered tomorrow - cant wait! Have both the L and J bend bars (I also found similar extensions to be way more comfortable on the current bike) in the order and the angled and team switch plate kits to find out what is the best fit / most comfortable.

And it is here!

Swapped some of the components to those I prefer. The optional Canyon extensions are really short, if anyone opts for them.

I have the 2018 model, but now I want the 2019 version!

I called Canyon US and, of course, they don't have an ETA, but I could make a 2-day trip to EU and pick it up from there, if they have stock...
Does anyone have SOLID Intel on the real ETA for both US and EU? I posted mine on sale today, and now I have 4 dudes lined up fighting for it, but I don't want to end up bike less for an uncertain amount of time.

Any ideas?

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Were you going to pay the tariff on the way back or just bring a bike case with you? Also were you trying to get a VAT refund?

you could order from Germany and have it sent to mygermany.com. They do a ship to/ ship from service. I contacted them this week and was quoted $500-$700 US to get it to California. The hangup would be duty/ tariff on the incoming which would be 10% or so, plus fees from the brokerage. That unknown has me holding off. If you can swing the trip, perhaps with a bikebag, that could make it worth it.

It's a UK bike (with the brakes cabled up for us right = front, left = rear). Canyon UK is based about 20 miles away from me!

My SLX 2019 just arrived. I have been waiting 4 months...no comments.

I am also a bit disappointed as it seems that the new cocpit was supposed to have 7degree tilt option but its either not there or i have no clue how to set it up. Seems i’ll need to spend another 100$ on aftermarket angled wedges...
