Here is what I did (and have done in the past for other Canyon bikes with sold out parts). It's a bit of a PITA but it works.

First set-up an account with a mail forwarding service in Germany. I used Mailbox.de without any major issues https://www.mailboxde.com/. Their customer support was very responsive and helpful when I did run into a couple small issues (had one large shipment exceed duty restrictions, so we broke up the package into multiple smaller shipments to avoid duties).

Go to the European Canyon website: https://www.canyon.com/...egory=11459#id=60142

Buy whatever accessories you want and ship them to Mailbox.de. For my Ultimate, for example, I order different a couple different integrated handlebars/stems and returned the ones I didn't keep.

There are some hoops you have to jump through on Canyon's site, for example, they don't have USA as a dropdown in the Country list when you input credit card, but you can pay via PayPal to bypass this.

When Mailbox.de gets your package, they email you and give you some forwarding options. I used DHL express for one package and it arrived quickly. For one package I used "Czechpost" and it took forever (causing me to miss a return window, so if there is any chance you'll want to return the item, skip that).

I think I paid about $50 USD for each DHL box (containing $400 handlebars). So not cheap, but it was the only way to get the items I needed without endlessly waiting for Canyon USA. My guess is it would be cheaper if you're only ordering a small cage adapter.

You can't buy/forward certain items, and if the amount is over certain values (I think $750) paying duties becomes annoying because there is a lot of paperwork that you're on your own to fill out correctly, but I don't think that will be an issue if all you want is a little adapter.

If/when the Ultimate AL SLX frameset come back in stock, I will order one this way as a beater/rain-bike version of my Ultimate CF SLX 9 Pro. (Mailbox.de won't forward complete bikes, which is unfortunate, as they offer some configurations that I better in my opinion).

Anyhow, hope this helps some. Worked for me.

Thanks for the info. I thought there might be a workaround but didn't know how to go about it. You'd think that Canyon U.S. could keep up with something as simple as a bottle mount. Thx again, gonna check it out.

It's not a Canyon US thing from what I have heard/seen. It seems to be a global Canyon issue.....I haven't seen them listed on the German site, US site, or UK site. UK Customer Service had no idea on time frame and the US estimate I have heard is not passed with no new updates. Maybe Jay will know something more and come on here and chime in.

German site: https://www.canyon.com/...ories/?category=T344
US Site: https://www.canyon.com/en-us
UK Site: https://www.canyon.com/en-gb

If someone would crack the code and 3D print them they would sell a ton of them ;)

Has anyone purchased an SLX with the long stem option? If so, do you have pictures of what it looks like with storage installed? Gap between hydration and bento should be an easy fix by drilling new holes, but I'm curious about whether there are other gaps. For example between hydration and head tube.

I originally opted for the Speedmax CF, but I changed my mind and want to get a Speedmax CF SLX instead. I was fitted for the CF with size M.
The SLX size M might fit me best (if at all?). My pad stack would be pretty much maxed out (I do think my stack could be lowered after training in the aero position for longer periods of time). I assume the maximum pad stack in the geometry table at canyon.com also requires the raised basebar option instead of the default flat bar?

My bike fit measurements:
Length: 6.04' (184cm)
Inseam: 34,96' (88.8cm)
Saddle height: 770
Saddle setback: 30
Pad stack: 653
Pad reach: 468

What do you guys think? Would size M be a good fit for me?

I see Swiss side, Canyon and Sauber F1 have been working together for Patrick Lange' s title defence.

What ever the outcome it's due to be released on the 4th of October - new Speedmax?

Though I notice he is now rocking custom bars so the pedestals are much closer together than the stock bars like Frodeno. This means they integrate into the hydration system so much cleaner.

Your best bet is to give customer service a call and discuss it with them. I'm not a fit expert, so don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.

I do not believe that is an option in the US at the moment, not sure when it will be an option. Hopefully Jay can chime in and maybe shed light on that, and maybe he has seen bikes that are setup with the different bars. I'll ping him to hop on here and hopefully give better info.

I shot them an email and the long stem will be available in the US. There will be a gap between the hydration and nutrition storage but that's an easy fix, probably. Was hoping someone has seen the setup or has pictures. I don't like bothering customer support with too many questions before being ready to pull the trigger (I have one more IM before off season).

Very much hoping they make the narrow pedestal standard. Makes a lot of sense to hide it behind the hydration system.

Just to answer my own question regarding stack sizes in regard to the different basebar options:

basebar, S, M, L:

  • Riserbar 567-647 595-675 629-709
  • Flatbar 542-622 570-650 604-684
  • Dropbar 504-610 532-638 566-672

Hope that helps some people, because I couldn't find this information anywhere online...

I think the majority of people would not be able to ride it with the narrow pedestal due to how narrow it brings in your arms. I would love to have that setup as my arms are relatively narrow, but don't think that setup is easily had these days. Not even sure if Sarah Crowley has it..........

Sorry I may have used "pedestal" and "spacer" interchangeably. It doesn't have to be narrow at the pads. I'm envisioning the narrow spacers, almost like a mono-bar, and the mounting surface with adjustable width. Like TriRig Alpha One. Narrow spacers do not have to mean narrow pad width. I just think it makes sense to get the the spacers out of the wind if they can be behind/in the bottle area.

Thank you! I was looking for this. I'm currently at ~620 mm stack and ~560mm reach. Considering going lower and maybe longer but can't on my 58cm P5 as I'm already slammed and maxed out on reach. The Canyon seems to be one of the few bikes that is both lower and longer. The dropbar and 85mm stem options would put my current fit right in the middle of the adjustable range. Bless Canyon for offering these options!

I am looking for the L bend extensions that seem to be available in Europe when ordering a new bike. Are any available in the US?

I’ve now got one ride in on my Speedmax. Lots to love about the bike, but I have a few questions for the pros here.

First, is there any way to widen the pad spacing beyond just setting them to the inside of the two rows of holes on the pad-holders? I’d love them about 1-2cm wider.

Second, any recommended solutions for as longer drinking straw?

Third, I’m running HED Jet Black wheels. I have the brakes set as wide as they can go, but I’m getting brake rub. I can open the QR, push the wheel to the side and close it, and the wheel will spin freely, but out pressure on it and it slips back. Is this an issue with the dropouts or the fork, or something else. I should note that when I mounted the zipp it came with out of the box, the same pad was rubbing on the same side.

I would like arm pads a bit wider too, but do not have a solution.
I ride a set of Hed Jet wheels, not the Blacks, and had to release the knob on the quick release all the way out. To go out farther I believe you would need to loose the cable. May need a mechanic to do it.
Longer straw- try a hardware store for tubing. Mine suits me fine as is.
Canyonjay on here is helpful. Try giving him a PM.

Did you not get the Team switch plate set included with your bike? You can use this to get extra width - see page 56 of the manual.

Adding a bite valve to the end of the straw would give you a bit of extra length if you only need 1-2cm. It also stops splashing.

Thanks, I wondered what those were. Page 56 of my manual is German. The English reference to those pieces in my manual is less clear about their purpose.

Indeed, Canyon has the Switch Plate Kit, a reversible plate that allows the pads to mount in further lateral (an extra inch or so on in or out each side), and the Rear Switch Plate Kit, which allows for both added lateral mounting as well as added fore and aft pad placement.) We have the Rear Switch Plate Kit in stock at $20. They don't live on the website in the accessories section, but call our team in-house (number on top of the website) and you can order it direct.

And yep, Hed Jet we've found are the widest wheels... Just fitted an athlete last week with a new set, and was able to just roll that barrel adjuster out a bit for clearance.... YRMV.

Hope this helps!
