What will cause Pros not to win on Saturday?
We have prediction threads of who will win and why.

But who won't win and won't will cause them to either lose the race or why they will not win.

Sanders will push too hard on the bike and get caught on the wrong

Ryf's only way of losing is having a mechanical on the bike

Etc.....

Anyone else see why others will not win?

They're all too slow to win. Except for Ryf and Kienle.

Not finishing first will cause them not to win.

From last year:
  • Tim Don, bike/car crash before race
  • Brent McMahon, jelly fish sting during warm up
  • Matt Russell, bike.car crash during race

Hard to predict, but a couple athletes will get taken out from pure bad luck.

I'd also wager a good 20% of the field has some niggle/injury they are trying to work through and a few will flare up during the race (but we won't learn until the post-race interviews)

Given they're all riding disc bikes now...any flat will take you out of contention. How much longer is the repair on a disc bike vs. rim brake? Seems in the UCI Worlds it was a big headache for pro mechanics.

Wurf won’t win if he can’t drop Sanders and Sebi (assumes they pace each other).

Sanders/Sebi won’t win if they cant gap Lange, McNamee and Gomez. Although I don’t think they need as much as others.

No one else will win if Sanders somehow rides with Starky.

Ryf will need 2 five minute penalties and a flat. Seriously, she looks good.

OMG, this. Idk how much longer it takes, probly depends. While heartbraking (yup, did it) for someone if it went down like this, but what if a favorite riding one of the fancy new disc superbikes gets a flat and the extra time changing the flat really screws them somehow like they miss winning or a podium spot by 30 seconds...

Just thinking neutral support could probably swap out a wheel quick with rim brakes, assuming they’re close of course. With disc brakes you need to make sure the finer points of the wheel match the bike.

An American male cant win this year. Or the last 18 years.

Ryf will win so easy people will question her “training”.

Ive backing seb.
