Broken Drop-out
So my buddy sent this to me today, broken drop-out on his Kestrel. It's a 2008 Talon SL.

Fixable at all?

I've tried copying and pasting but that isn't working... I'll get this worked out on the pic front but essentially the aluminum drop out cracked all the way through... what are his options? (Other than scrapping and strating over, although we both realize that is the best answer...)

**I can't make the pic show up... apparently I'm an idiot, even though I've done it before.... I'll try to figure it out...**

***Well, I was able to attach it. What happened to just copying and pasting?? Am I just dumb tonight? Probably...***

No one out there that can replace the drop-out properly, Donzo? I know you've been around so I respect your opinion...

That’s nice of you to say :)

I think it might be fixable... but on a 2008 frame, I would say it wouldn’t really be worth it.

What about upgrading to a newer, used, non-broken frame :)

Why risk it??

Money, man - it's always money.

He's in the process of a divorce, yadda, yadda, yadda, it's his respite...

Looking for the least objectionable option, essentially.

These guys could do it https://www.ruckuscomp.com/...dropout-replacement-
Though the cost is likely to be about the same as finding a deal on a more modern frame

If the dropout is not aluminum bonded to the carbon stays, he may have a chance at having it repaired.

carbon-repair

He may also be able to find a decent frame on eBay as well.

Thanks for the info, it was all very much appreciated!

Unfortunately, it was aluminum bonded to stays, and Kestrel told him it was unfixable. So, very bad day for him...

On the brighter side, he does get to look for a new frame! And who doesn't enjoy doing that??

Anyone got a nice frame in 54-56 cm they want to get rid of? ...

Thanks again, everyone!
