Lionel Sanders Boston Marathon Prediction Time

If Lionel was racing, what time would he run today in these conditions.

I'd put him at 2:30 (5:43 per mile)

I resemble that statement (my wife would make it permanent - sorry Dan)

I saw this on a white board in a window box at my daughters middle school...

Great thread! Not sure about time, but Sanders podiums for sure.

(Notice to the thread starter, can we have a 'how would Sanders do in the Tour De France?' Thread when it comes up later in the year?)

Women are at 2:39 pace at half way... LS could be on that podium!

Sanders at TDF? Well, off of what we saw at the Zwift Race... I'd say he'd dominate road cycling.

I just googled Lionel to see his previous IM marathon times and saw something that said he was 5'10". I've stood next to Lionel on more than one occasion. If he's 5'10" then I'm 6'3"... and I'm not 6'3". I recall the first time seeing him at the Panama 70.3 a couple of years ago and thinking he was much shorter than I had anticipated.

Sorry for the random thread derailment.

I don't think he could run a 2:30. That's about 13 minutes faster than his IM mary best and elite athletes like Lionel don't have as big a delta between an IM mary and an open mary like us mere mortals. But it's certainly possible.

Women at half in 1:19....men’s pack looking like now splitting over 32 per 10.

This is going to be a bad (but interesting) day!

Thinking 2:35? Just a tad under 6:00 pace?

Did I miss the pink font? The men's podium is predicted to all finish around 2:10.

He’s split inside 10 minutes of the 30 km track world record (1:36) on a hilly road course.

When he was just AG...having said that, (and I’ll get lambasted by the fan boys) I don’t think he’s run an Im marathon to his potential yet. To many early pacing and nutrition errors.

The women's wheelchair finish time was 2:04, insane to think that when the men run on flat courses that they are moving as fast as they were. Thats incredible

This is a great idea for a new Lionel thread....'How tall is Lionel Sanders?'

TBF >2 hours is pretty slow for an elite wheelchair marathon.

Having just run a good portion of the Paris Marathon alongside a para-athlete (no relationship, just on the same part of the course at the same time), you get a really good perspective of just how much the hills affect those guys. When the road pitches up more than a couple of percent it looks really tough to just keep moving forward; sure they get some of that time back on the downhills, but it must really take a toll.

I can only imagine Boston is a particularly gruelling course in that respect, what with all the back-loaded elevation...

No way his virtual non entry to Boston beats Gwen's blowup time from NYC!!!!

Lionel comes in 3 minutes behind Frodeno. He then swears he’ll start training outdoors, but doesn’t. He also decides to change to faster equipment like Frodo.
Maybe this goes in another thread?

If Dark Mark wasn't banned, what do you think his prediction would be for this hypothetical race?
