Lake Placid - Things to do
I am heading to Lake Placid next week, so four days of skiing, but we will have at least one day just to hang out.

I am with my family (two girls around 11) and another family with two girls around same age.

I am looking for things to do that the kids will like. I think the bobsled run might be done for the season - any other must sees? Waterpark are always appreciated. Can one tour the ski jumps? Is that interesting?

How about skating the oval?

Any recommendations appreciated.

Haven't been there in a long time, but..
You can rent skates and use the outdoor speed skating oval.
Ski jumps.. think you can pay to ride the elevator up.
The xc-ski venue is nearby, but sounds like you folks are downhill...
Think the ice rink is open to public and has 'miracle on ice' memorabilia on display, etc..

I think there's a famous race course there or something

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I second the dog sled on the Lake. I think you can try biathlon up at the x-country ski center - that looks like fun. And yes, you can take the elevator to the top of the ski jump which is worth doing especially if the kids watched the Olympics. They used to have some virtual reality "rides" at the bobsled venue, not sure if they are still there. Look at the skating rink schedules because sometimes there are hockey games or ice skating competitions which are fun to watch. There are lots of gift shops and nice stores along main street that the girls might like. Enjoy the snow, I'm jealous!!!

Skating on the oval is really cool. Sometimes there's actual speed skaters practicing and that's cool to see also.
