Has anyone tried to put this stem on their Canyon? I was just curious because I know Canyon uses their own stem, but it looks like it might fit just from photos.

Indeed, I'll be receiving the Aeria Ultimate to confirm just that. Will update here as soon as I fit it, as I agree, it would be a nice piece to add to a CF and help get it *close* to the form and function of an SLX.... at a significantly lower price, at a less aggressive geometry, with greater ease of travel. Certainly a fair bit of variance between the CF and the SLX....but the Aeria setup (we hope) will bring it dang close to the SLX.

It serves as a bearing cap, so it's not removeable. However, (and I can confirm this tomorrow when I'm in office and can look at the bike we have in our office) I believe we have a version that allows the stem to come down flush with the top of the headtube. I think we have a few of these in stock, and are in the process of getting these ordered (along with a lot of other smaller/fit-related parts). So yes, you can get the stem slammed. You can always call our in-house sales team, confirm it and order if we've got it in stock.

Thank you for all the info Jay! I have a couple follow up questions.
First, if you do have any of these in stock (with the stem slammed) can you send me a photo? I'll message you my e-mail if so. Or feel free to post it on this thread. I'm sure many others would be interested to see it.
Second, if we did slam the stem, is there another energy box that would sit lower to stay flush with the stem? I heard there was another shorter box available, but I've never been able to find it on the website.
Thanks again Jay! This has been really helpful!

Thanks Jay. I'd be interested to hear about this as well. I have a CF 8.0 Di2 and the spacer can physically be removed. I didn't realize it was more than a spacer. I'm considering upgrading my cockpit to something cleaner, so interested to hear whether or not it's viable.

I grabbed the CF we have here in office and pulled it apart to confirm (and called the designer on the Speedmax, Wolfgang Kohl this morning, to confirm).... and it's different. In a good way.
The shape-integrated plastic spacer that sits under the stem is "just" a spacer. You can indeed remove it and drop the stem down to the compression ring that sits atop the bearing on the top of the headtube. The base of the stem is recessed such that it will sit atop the compression ring and act as a nice snug cap atop the compression ring.
With the excess steerer above the stem, things are a bit different. You can cut the steerer and run it flush. We do make a shorter bento box that will allow it to run in line with the stem... but don't have them in stock yet.
However, if you wish to leave the length of steerer uncut for any reason, the stem by its design has two "wings" at the top aft of the stem. You can make it simple by cutting the steerer flush. If you wish to keep the steerer intact, things are a bit different; the wings (as well as a very small amount of stem diameter clearance around the steerer) precludes you from using standard spacer bearings.
Finally, being 1 1/8" standard, you can carve the whole front end off and run whatever you want; a Zipp one-piece, your own stem, bar combo from ENVE, or... that Aeria Ultimate. I just received a test unit from Profile Design and quickly tossed it onto our CF 7.0 in office. it works a charm. The plastic spacer (if you mount it under the stem) will still be a bit of an issue, but a Dremel (or an old steel file) to take out an alignment rib will remedy that instantly. But it looks great.. and will look even cleaner with cables properly routed through the stem. And it's rock-solid, too.
Following here with a couple photos; a detail shot of the Aeria Ultimate stem and HSF bottle installed on our Speedmax CF, with a shot of the CF and the SLX side-by-side. I'm incredibly impressed. It effectively takes a Speedmax CF and morphs it quite quickly into an SLX in form and function and utility. It's not a mistake that the bottles look the same; anyone that has a Speedmax SLX will see the Profile Design marking on the bottle there, too.
And for future reference, I'll soon be opening a Speedmax Owners Thread, to answer any questions y'all have. Stay tuned for that.

The SLX on the left is a medium. The CF on the right is a large. And FWIW, the Profile Design Aeria stem is sitting atop a 40mm spacer, so the cockpit (and bottle) can come down that much further.

It's just remove the Canyon stem and switch to this one or you need to do some magic?
I've a Speedmax CF 8.0 XS from 2018 and I want to mount this kit.
Thanks!

Any idea how much does the v21 canyon stem weights? Need to change my 80mm to something longer and was thinking about PD Aeria. But it's mentioned to be heavy so I'm wondering how does it compare to canyon.

That PD Aeria Utimate stem in 100mm version weighs a hefty 455g acc. to the website. Thanks

Hey Jay,
What I didn't get ... is it necessary to remove the spacer or can I just change the stems and it will fit as well? They seem the same height and the aeria ultimate falls out deeper. Besides the shorter bento box still isn't available.

70mm stem: 214g = 168g (body including 2 screws) + 33g (front with 4 screws) + 13 (head plug with screw)
90mm stem: 238g = 192g (body including 2 screws) + 33g (front with 4 screws) + 13 (head plug with screw)
