Top-50 Most Rat-Infested U.S. Cities
For the third straight year, Chicago has won the coveted "Nation's Most Rat-Infested City" crown. And there's no truth to the rumor that the city's aldermen were also included in Shytown's rodent population figures. ;-)

“Chicago has tried just about everything to control a burgeoning rat population fueled by a construction boom and a mild winter,” the Chicago Sun-Times wrote last week. “None of it has worked in a city seemingly overrun by rodents.”

Here's the Top-10:

  1. Chicago
  2. New York
  3. Los Angeles
  4. San Francisco – Oakland
  5. Washington, D.C.
  6. Philadelphia
  7. Detroit
  8. Baltimore
  9. Seattle – Tacoma
  10. Dallas – Ft. Worth

I see we in Houston are at #20. For us it's not the quantity but the size. Who needs a bunch of normal rats when you have giant swamp rats.

I’ll never forget the time I was at the old Tiger Stadium with H.S. buddies. We wandered the stadium to goof off in a section where there were only a few people, looked down an aisle, and saw a rat the size of an average cat. I got the hell out of there, never went back to a game until Comerica opened...which is probably no better for rats, but is at least “clean,” or so I convince myself.

I hate everything about rats. They can go extinct as far as I’m concerned, except for the ones who are useful for testing medication that I may need eventually.
