I saw your new RD pulley on Facebook. Will that be available just for Tactical bikes or will it be for sale as a standalone item as well?

They are standard items with the 2.0 Tactical arriving after the first of the year, available to 1.0 Tactical purchasers as an upgrade (at a very low cost) and as regular sales items for general purchase - at costs consistent with our model (Quality Manufacturing... Intelligent Design... Reasonable Prices).

If production stays on schedule - items will be available a bit sooner for upgrade and general purchase (mid December).

Dan- In the release, it mentions that ERO will be the only place west of the Mississippi where one can see and touch the bike in person, etc. Does that imply that you have or will have similar arrangements with shops elsewhere (east of the Mississippi...)?
Separately (and I'm sure this is covered elsewhere but I cant find it), what is it exactly about this bike that makes it non UCI legal? And does that make it illegal for regular USA Cycling races? I enjoy doing an occasional TT race and while no officials ever seem to be inspecting the bikes, I can't tell if the Tactical would be ok or not.

We hope so - I am actively looking to work with 5-9 professional fitters geographically spread out in the US non-brand non-LBS affiliated fitters. I would like to set them up in the same way I work with Jim at ERO Sports. One of each size bike on consignment at their place - one of which is assembled so I can refer people to see it.

If someone comes in for a fit or I refer someone in for a fit and they like and fit on our Tactical...they simply go on-line and order the Tactical from Premier. The fitter is not in the money loop. I confirm payment was received to the fitter, the fitter sets up the bike and gives it to the athlete right then and there. I hope that athlete will continue to utilize the coach/fitter for additional services.

Then I pay $200 to the fitter for the fit work and another fee for the bike referral. Then I just ship another Tactical to replace the bike sold.

The fitter has no investment in any inventory just a few sq/ft of space.

The Tactical does not meet the 3:1 ratio and you can not see daylight between the rear tire and the seat tube. Those are the two items although most officials don't seem to enforce the 3:1 rule anymore. I'm not an expert on all the various governing bodies and their rules so I can't speak with any authority on that issue.

USA Cycling does not strictly follow UCI rules for the amateur fields. USA Cycling rules are much looser. You can check them on their site. Most of it is about seat and aerobar positioning, same wheel size, etc. Pretty sure the Tactical is fine according to USA Cycling rules. If you decide to do a pro race, then you may fall under UCI rules.

I had never thought about this, but if its not technically UCI legal, then I am guessing it is not ITU non-draft legal either?

I think I remember reading somewhere in this thread that it was submitted for approval and approved. So yes, it is.

It's not UCI road racing time trial legal. Has nothing to do with triathlon legal. Felt, Specialized, all the beam bikes, and many other companies now have UCI illegal triathlon bikes that are perfectly fine for Ironman and ITU events.

Here in Canada, most of the events that -aren't- Ironman brand, follow ITU rules.
Currently, Reap, Omni, P5X and Ventum are on the allowed 'unusual' bikes list for ITU. Perhaps the Premier is legal anyway and may not require any special approval like the others, since it isn't missing any tubes..

Premier Tactical meets the requirements under standard "double diamond design".

In any case: I think I remember a Slowtwitch article some time back saying there is an ITU rule distinction between Pro rules and Age Group rules. Wherein Age Group events are not affected by non-standard bike designs. I'm not sure where I read that so maybe there is a change.

i have one on preorder. they prob won’t hit the states till late january. there was an issue from shimano in groupset parts delays.

that said, i can’t say enough good about dan. pretty amazing to not only get to talk to the guy directly who makes the bike and owns the company, but to also get UNBIASED advice. his customer service was a huge selling point on my purchasing his bike.

I’m leaving for Taiwan January 10th to supervise final assembly and container loading. After that it’s a day or two for loading on the vessel and then 17 days door to door to our facility.

Other than a slight delay from Shimano on the R8000 series everything has gone very smoothly on this shipment.

We are about 70% pre-sold and looking forward to getting the bikes out to athletes.

Hey Dan - any place I can see one of these in person? I'm in Virginia Beach but would be willing to travel a few hours at some point this winter - Richmond, Raleigh, NoVA?

That is great I can put you in touch with 5 or 6 athletes that have been riding the bike this last year. A few of them have qualified for Worlds on the Tactical. They will be able to give you a good third party opinion.

This will be a bit long because we are very thankful.

Well we are into 2018 and PremierBike needs to thank a lot of people. First and foremast the athletes that purchased the Tactical 1.0 and all the Optimized Chains, Hard Travel Cases and Wheels. You took a chance on a new company and a new bike and we thank you for that.

That first batch of bike sold out fast and the emails, ride reports and messages we received from the fantastic training and race results were wonderful. I'm so glad everyone did so well in 2017. Just know that we are here to support you.

For all athletes that purchased a bike - Please send us an email with your event, date and finish; so we can compile points for "Our Sponsored Athlete Program" (the rules are listed on our website in the Blog section) which was not just a Blog post - its real - I want to get the payouts determined and processed. Remember you did not have to win or podium - just finish the race. Our Sponsored Athlete Program is about getting out there and having fun and competing at your level - what ever that is.

Next our manufacturing partners and staff. It's never easy but working with people that love bikes, ride, work out and want to do their best, love competition and will not accept anything but the absolute highest quality products makes my job easier. We love the sport and are determined to continue to give back and provide really great products.
We owe a few things to a few customers. We worked hard on so many versions of the rear storage lids that I would not doubt if our athletes thought it would never happen. I'm leaving for Taiwan in a few days and hope to bring back your replacements. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you to all the forum members/customers/critics etc.. at Slowtwitch.com ( the best triathlon forum on the planet). You complained about graphics and you were right - we fixed that. You asked for a tilt kit, round extension tube option and the Tactical 2.0 has all those things because of your in-put. Please keep it coming. Without Slowtwitch and its forum members the Tactical would have never been built and would not be a better option today than it was 12 months ago. Slowtwitch Forum contributors allowed the Tactical to be a part of the aero shootout that proved the bike was world class. We could never had done that - in so short of time with out you. We continue to be grateful for that effort.

2018 is going to be a lot of fun, exciting - just plain crazy good. If you think investing in PremierBike was good in 2017 - 2018 is going to blow your mind.

And thank you for having the courage and commitment to bring something new to a crowded bicycle market. That's a risk that few people will actually understand.

But you got it right, and I'm glad to see your products sell. Can't wait to see what your next refinement or product is.

You are going to love your bike.

We are getting fantastic ride reports from the slowest BOP to athletes averaging massive watts and everyone of them can't say enough about the way the bike tracks, its' stability and the confidence they feel in technical sections of their rides. We know its' fast and the adjustability is awesome. I just wish we had more bikes.

I'm really looking forward to going to Taiwan in a few days. Supervising the final assembly of production bikes and loading of the first 2018 shipment as well as a lot of new products in development.

Then on to TBI in Temple AZ at the end of the month.

I’m with you!!!! I’ve been literally dreaming of having a bike with all the features this bike has for many many years. And I’m glad I didn’t make my Tribike Transport reservation for Santa Rosa, because now I get to pack and carry and save hundreds :)

I have had some questions and PM's about the Tactical's "Slack Seat Tube Angle" since its launch. In my last long post I talked about 2018 and things to come. I thought now was a good time to discuss some of the design reasoning I made a few years ago while designing the Tactical. Below is a partial and expanded response to a recent PM.

1. Just wondering, when designing the frame, why did you make the actual seat tube angle of the bike so slack?? Even in your promo pics, the seatpost clamp is moved almost all the way forward, and then the saddle is pushed almost all the way forward, just to sort of get over the BB. I've talked to another owner on the forum, and also read 'kiley''s comments, about how this was one troubling thing for them.

Why I designed the seat post and clamp that way will become super clear in 2018. Same for why I engineered front-fork rake/trail and wheel base adjustment in the Tactical. There are some trade offs in what I am trying to do but for the TRI side (Tactical) it worked. The ride reports on that bike are fantastic.

I wanted to design in some additional value for athletes if possible. I will know if I was right soon. I'm at about 90% right now. And working on this second bike is part of my upcoming trip next week. So if it works - great; if not we already have a great Triathlon bike.

The reasoning was really three fold. I wanted to shield the rear wheel for aero gain, have flexibility for future 73 degree seat tube angle and I wanted to make sure I could get a triathlete to a very aggressive position with one center frame mold. I have not seen those combinations in any current bike. With the seat post clamp reversed (and the seat forward) you can get to an 82 degree seat tube angle on the Tactical. That is the extreme of all the fits I had ever seen so I did not see any need to make it any steeper. Doing so would have challenged what I'm doing on the overall plan.

The seat/clamp can also adjust all the way back to 70 degrees. So a rearward sweet spot position is 73 degrees (aero road bike). I will be introducing a functional aero road bike design that incorporates many of the molds used in the Tactical.

For those that have purchased a Tactical 1.0 or 2.0 we may (not sure yet) have a way you can transform your Tactical into an unbelievably fast aero road bike just doing a few quick/adjustments and swap of a few parts - the geometry number changes by adjustment/swap says it will work. I have ridden my prototype and I achieved what I was hopping for but production considerations need to be considered - more to come in 2018 :-)
