How are you and how was your week?
What are your plans for watching the eclipse?

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

Goals for this week: swim 5x (2 done), keep doing a good job alternating easy runs with fast runs, bike 2-3x (one done)

Mission accomplished! Two of the rides were two-mile errand bikes but they count :-) I was, by definition, on my bike.

Swam 6x for 10,550 yds
Rode 3x for 47.5 mi
Ran 6x for 46.8 miles

Bike miles > run miles!

I am going to watch the eclipse from somewhere on campus, hopefully socialising with some of the other maths profs.

Goals for this week - very likely racing on Sunday (a 2k swim/10 mi run aquathlon), so get rested for that. Ride at least twice. Do a long swim. Day off from running.

Pssst - you can see it in Canada too!!

No eclipse viewing plans. It's a perfect day for it here though, no clouds and I think we are supposed to get more than 75% coverage. Curious to see if it affects the dog at all.

I signed up for a sprint "adventure tri" (kayak/MTB/trail run) next month. With the hope of not hating myself for signing up, I'm committing to doing at least a little training.

Goals for this week - 3x bike, 3x run and at least 2x weights (since I won't be doing any paddling before the race).

Howdy!

No eclipse for me. We are all fogged in! Maybe the fog will get dark....

Good week last week - pretty light! I didn't mind it!

Swim x1 (OWS)
Bike x3
Run x3

Another light week ahead with Santa Barbara coming up on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it. Then I have Santa Cruz 2 weeks later. So the next 3 weeks are maintenance and keeping as fresh as I can while not losing fitness.

I also just registered for Trick or Tri. That race will probably close out my season, which is crazy to think about.

Not much else going on here. My kiddo started year 2 of college today. He's playing water polo so he's crazy fit right now. Their swim sets boggle my mind. They were in the pool Friday doing 20x200 on the 2:15 and they were making the set. Needless to say, he's a hungry boy. My husband took him to Costco.

Rock on, Women!

Your trip is short. Make the most of it.

I was an eclipse wuss because I didn't have the right glasses so I just stayed in and watched it get progressively darker inside.

It wasn't the best week to be honest. Strained my quad while running last Tuesday so that put a damper on my cycling/running plans. We also had to change our holiday plans so instead of 3.5 weeks in England & Spain we are now doing 8 days in England, and maybe a week cycling in Tucson. Very first world problems I know but we planned this holiday last November so I was more than a little disappointed.

On the plus side, the fence is now stained and the backyard is slowly becoming more grass than weeds.

This week: run x 2, get back on track for my 1000km goal, don't buy any biscuits (aka cookies).

Not a bad week. I hit 25 running miles, I rode my bike outside and on the trainer, I went to barre, and I did a bit of yoga.

Dr. TC, I also work on a university campus. A very popular science professor set up his telescope with a filter and before long a crowd of students had gathered. They're not even in class yet, so I'm not sure where they appeared from??? It ended up being much cooler and much more fun than I had expected, with everyone hanging out outside with their glasses or taking turns at the telescope. We were at 80% totality so it was pretty significant.

I have multiple evening work events this week (ugh) so I'm expecting training to be hit and miss. I'll be happy with a couple runs, maybe a weights video, and my usual ride and run on the weekend. It's supposed to be nice and not beastly hot, so I'm looking forward to that.

Hello, hello. Thanks for getting us started and good work getting your goals, Dr. Tigerchik.
edbikebabe, an "adventure tri" sounds amazing -- I am going to look around for one.
Happy taper SLO, see you this weekend :D
Hope your quad feels better, Scheherzade.
Nice mileage, midtown. Keep up the good work.

My goals last week were tentative depending on my elbow:
Depending on my elbow, I'll likely swim twice and yoga once, run three times, bike three times, lift twice, and do my daily p/rehab. I'm hoping to do an actual swim/bike/run session off my tri bike on Saturday before heading to Idaho to camp out for THE ECLIPSE(!) on Monday. Does anyone else have plans to see it?

My eclipse trip was amazing! We went up into a National Forest in Wyoming and avoided all the crowds by hiking 12 miles up to ~10K and viewing the eclipse from a beautiful spot above the treeline. Way better than the long run I had on the calendar.

Unfortunately, my elbow is still bothering me. I did one swimming kickset and spent my Saturday ocean session helping people in and out of the waves. I did yoga twice, lifted twice, biked three times, but only ran twice -- instead I did some great hiking in Utah and Wyoming while on my eclipse trip. Both my runs went well -- I had a good, hard interval run at the track and I successfully ran off my tri bike in the new position (only 25 + 4 miles but without issue on either leg so I'll take it).

I'm racing on Saturday (1 mile swim, 34 mile bike, 10 mile run) and am treating it like a big brick as part of my build for my 70.3 next month so I have a regular week of training s/b/r + p/rehab, strength, and yoga. I am hoping my elbow feels better before the race but my real focus is just to test my tri bike position at a good effort without mangling myself or being unable to run. Baby steps!

I hope everyone has a great week!
