I'm in lane 3, blue cap / black and red suit. zen master is lane 6. Lane 1 is closest to the camera

Thanks for sharing. You guys looked awesome. Are you guys taking ~10 strokes per length on the second 25? I am not sure what my fly stroke count should be. At 5'6" it tends to be more like 12-14 depending on how tired. But my wingspan is more like 70 inches, so I don't think I can use my height as an excuse!

I can't wait to hear all the post event smacktalk!

I didn't stick around to see the official results but the timers told me 28.3

I had to glide a bit into the turn, that's the best excuse I've got. Really though, Jason just plain kicked my butt! Bragging rights for him!

I've got a video to post when I can steal my wife's phone for a bit

Stroke count. I guess so, it's not something I think about in s race. In the 50 I'm just trying to keep my head down and turnover as fast as I can.

And yeah, I completely crushed zenmaster28!!!! I haven't seen the official results, but I was a 28.1 according to the timers.

Other results, 26.7 in the 50 free and 1:09 mid in the 100IM

I missed the turn and the finish. It's a tough pool to nail the turns in, it's so dark under the water slides.

Went out for beer after the meet. Josh did 100im followed immediately by 50 back.

Said after the 50 back that he just went into the corner, curled up in fetal position and tried not to puke.

Another teammate (mike) did the same double and then capped it off with a lead off leg in the 4x50 free. (Right after 50 back). Mike went 30.9 for the relay (individual 50 free was 26.5 or so)

That's for anyone who thinks sprinting is easy.

It is "tomorrow morning" and finally this participant in virtual lane 10 is coming in!!!! You know I can watch a world class sprinter and I can see how to do that, and I can feel how to do it, and frankly I was half decent at sprinting in my young days. But I can't watch you guys swim fast and figure out how this is remotely in the realm of human motion.

Watching these guys do fly, I can't tell if the stroke rate is in better and more powerful catch, more powerful control of the core at a higher rate, or the kick....I realize it is all of the above. How much weight training are you guys doing? At a 28 second event, that's a decent amount of anaerobic system. If you guys can get Lionel's swim start into this range, I think he is set. I really think his 50m speed is a limiter in triathlon pack swimming. The dude has plenty of endurance.

In the weight room, I'm doing nothing. I have a membership and started going a bit last year, but that fell by the wayside back in September. Keep meaning to go, but I have to get my pass replaced, which means going during hours when someone is at the desk.

Josh (lane 4, he won it) is swimming 1-2x per week, ultimate frisbee once a week, and weights once a week.

Colin (lane 5) not sure what he's doing but hes only 25 or so.

Zero weight training for me. I swim 4-5x/week, bike 2-3x and do yoga. Someday I will run again...

I'm not quite as fast as these guys, but close (28.9 and 29.1 the last two times I swam the 50 fly). I do zero weight lifting. I do swim 3-4 times a week, occasionally more. I do swim lots of hard 25's, although not that many butterfly because the quality drops off fast. When I have a meet coming up where I'm swimming the 50 fly, I'll start, about a month out, to do 25's fly on 2:00 at the end of my workout, trying to hold as close to 14.50 on every repeat as I can. When my times start going over 14.80, I quit. Usually can get to about 8.

I very occasionally do something similar for freestyle, trying to hold under 13.75. More frequently, I do 25's free on :30, with a hard target of 14.50 or better. When I miss, I rest a minute, then go again. Go until I miss 3x total, or 2x in a row. Can get into the low 20's on that set.
