After discovering *cheap* elastic with my Giro SLX project, I just go the cheap route and buy rolls of dritz. I ended up cutting the laces to fit and burning the ends anyway so I might as well save a few bucks.

I keep trying new stuff but the only one that's ever lasted more than a season is fuel belt. I keep going back to them, usually I get 2 seasons out of them. I'd maybe be interested in other options too but I seem to do well with them.

Xtenex for me as well. I like being ale to un-tension the laces at various spots along my foot to reduce chafing and hotspots. I have 2 pair which have been in rotation for going on 4 years each now with no signs of wear and tear.

As above. Look great too. Hot Pink Blue I like the fact the Riplaces are separate. It stops the 'equalization' where laces slip to find their own equilibrium but doesn't use knots to stay in place at the eyelets which, I found, dig in on some shoes. You get a ton of bands with each pack too.

Thanks for sharing. Do you get the full package with all the sizes or just individual sizes? I feel like I may need more medium/large bungees but may be wasting the rest. is it possible to know which ones I need so I don't have to order the full thing and basically throw away the XLs?

I just got the full package. It's good to have options in sizes as you fine tune how you want the fit to feel.

I saw some others recommend Xtenex laces. I tried those years ago. It's a good product, the Rip laces are better.

Same here. Current set has about 800 miles on them And just put them in a new pair of shoes last night. Still working fine.

Does anyone who uses the riplaces use the 'heel lock' method? Any special tricks or is it as simple as just looping the riplaces like you would on any of the other rows? Sorry probably a dumb question.

Xtenex and Riplaces are both great. Just spend enough time getting the tension correct.

Bumping this thread because I'm searching for a pair of elastic laces that I can use with the heel lock technique (https://www.locklaces.com/...w-to-tie-a-heel-lock) and had the same question. Any of you guys know if you can do the heel lock with Riplaces?

I like Lace Locks AND Riplaces, but here are the pros/cons I've had.
Lace Locks---
1) Great tension, multiple lacing patterns and criss-cross (pro)
2) Very secure and no slop (pro)
3) thin elastic can cause a lot of pressure resting on top tendons of foot if the shoe has little cushion in the tongue (CON)
4) Easy to find in stores (PRO)

Rip Laces---
1) Hardly any pressure on the top tendons of the foot (pro)
2) Loops are not small enough to keep down the slop on some shoes so foot slides around (CON)
3) Secure lacing system and never had one come undone (pro)
4) Cool owner--nice guy, stands behind his product (not that Lace Locks doesn't--but haven't met them)...PRO!

TBH I just don't understnad the need. With my runners I tie the laces that come with them at a comfortable fit, do a double know and leave it at that. I never untie or tie them again, unless they come undone on their own of course. No problems with the speed of getting my shoes and I don't like them to fit particularly tightly when I'm running.

They look heavy. I run in Vaporfly's and it seems stupid to pay dollars for a light shoe and then use heavy laces. No?

I started using these this year and like them a lot.

The bands look like hair bands... in fact my wife said that's what they were when I was lacing up my first pair and I'd call her an expert in that department.

I'll be buying my replacement bands from the beauty aisle I guess.

For whatever reason, I always felt like fuel belt did the best. I've tried others and I just like them better. Feel more comfortable, last longer. Seem to have a little more stretch.
