Shamrock Marathon- Virginia Beach

Well then ................. that was brutal.
Gale warning. North wind 20 - 30. Periods of heavy rain & sleet (usually when running north). 42 degrees. Possibly the worst running weather I have ever experienced.

My sister ran today. Said it was the most hateful race she has ever done...but the promise of free beer kept her going! :)

Definitely was one the hardest marathons I've ever run. I stuck with the pack of a pace group through about 16-17, trying to draft, but fell off at a water stop and it got ugly by mile 21. I nearly froze to death trying to walk into the wind back to the hotel afterwards (all of a block)

Not any way I can tell, but looking back there were 2100 finishers two years ago(good weather?), 1800 last year (also bad weather year), and 1300 this year.
