1x Chainring availability
What brands of 1x specific chainrings are available?
Do any of them offset the chainring so that when bolted to a conventional 2x crankset the chain line will be centred with the rear cassette?

Absolute Black

Sram (obviously, anything from low cross gear to 52/53/54 I believe)

I keep hearing Rotor has a narrow-wide-Q ring, which sounds perfect but can't seem to find it

Rotor makes QX1 in 46,50,52
They also make a 1X spider for their cranks which helps with chain line.

Looked at potentially other options but I run a 54. Using the good old trusted and true Sram X-Sync and see no reason to switch.

Worth mentioning Garbaruk, especially for non-standard tooth/BCD combinations. When I was looking for a 48T narrow/wide ring to go on a 130 BCD spider (for an old SRM I have) it was the only company I found who could supply one.

Also Fiberlyte carbon fiber rings, not narrow wide but with the taller teeth they reportedly have good chain retention. About $115 US depending on exchange rate.

The land of $15,000 bikes and a £135 chainring that was specifically developed for your discipline is considered too dear? Seems thin.

Is chainline an issue with the Fibre-lyte chainrings? Anybody know if they work with the SRAM hidden bolt designs?

Never had a chainline issue. They work with SRAM you just might have to specify when you order.

Just to mention, we (Absoluteblack) have a new 52 and 54t 1x DM aero ring scheduled for production in the next 4-6 weeks at our factory. It will fit directly onto SRAM Force/Rival cranks with no added parts or spacers required for perfect chain line. Keep an eye on http://www.absoluteblack.cc
I'll do my best to ping you when they're in stock.

Cheers,
AB

Any chance we will see an oval, 5-bolt, 52-54 tooth, narrow-wide, aero chainring?

I tried a Fiberlyte and didn't find that it held the chain as well as the narrow-ring. As a consequence, I have a Fiberlyte that I would sell for 80$ if anyone is interested. PM me

AeroCoach Arc does a 54t. Not traditionally ovalized per se, but not round (shape was specifically developed for TT type efforts).

Our alu 52t triathlon specific shaped rings are hopefully about 4-5 weeks away. Slightly different gearing pattern than the carbon 54s that we do.

Am i correct in concluding that the only powermeter option for direct mount absoluteblack rings would be stages? Also, just to confirm, it does not fit on Red cranks?

thanks!

X-Sync is a great 1x option for round rings. It perplexes me that with plenty of X-Sync options, from 50T to 52T to 54T, Tririg chooses to spec a 48T chainring on its Omni complete build. We are supposed to go fast on our TT bikes, aren't we?

Just to be clear....48 X 11T @ 90 rpm (that should be the low end of your cadence for a steady effort) is 30.8 mph.

Oh I didn't realize that every rider should ride with the same pyrahna-prescribed cadence. Or that we should limit ourselves to 30.8mph on short TTs, TTTs, false flats/downhills or tailwinds.

Someone call up Bernard Hinault and tell him he was doing it wrong.
