Sport goals for this week are to do whatever the heck I want done! come to think of it this is my general plan every week hee hee (I had enough of resting last week!), primarily focused on cycling as I have a sprint tri on Sept 11 I did a reasonably good job getting some cycling in. I biked more than I usually do!. My usual pool was closed last week, and two of my swims were at the college pool when I was visiting/working there and one was at the local 20 yard pool (which makes me dizzy and nauseous in short order). I am excited to swim again. there was some fast swimming One goal is to PUT THE SPEEDOMETER ON THE BIKE. yeah I sitll didn't do that
Good week schoolwork-wise; I did 16.3 hrs on dissertation related things.

M: 8.4 mi run + 1500 yd swim + 55 min teaching spin
T: 8 mi run + 1850 yd swim
W: 7.6 mi run + 3600 yd swim + 55 min teaching spin
Th: 10.7 mi run + 14 mi bike
F: 6.6 mi run + 2000 yd swim
S: 5.28 mi run + 1900 yd swim
S: 10.43 mi run + 7 mi stationary bike

Pleased with the week. I took yesterday off from running. Goals this week: get ready for a sprint tri on Sunday. make significant progress on schoolwork :P

Great week! Very busy at work - haven't taken a day off since Aug 22nd. Oy. But, still managing my workouts.

Been putting the time in on the bike and it is paying off. Went on my 40k loop near work on Sunday and had a PB of nearly 6 minutes. And luck was with me - I got a flat 1 block away from the office. Also did a great 9 mile trail run on Saturday in preparation for a trail race this upcoming Saturday. I did it with a group of girls (very unusual for me to group run) and it was fun. Nailed some great paces toward the end of the run that made me happy.

Mid week was pretty light for me with only one swim (3000m), 2 indoor bike sessions, and 2 runs.

I have an Oly in SoCal in 6 weeks I'm excited for. After my trail race this weekend it will be all about focusing on the swim. I've been studying last year's results and the swim times are all over 30 minutes (except for a couple young kids). The top swim time in my AG was a 42:48. I'm normally a ~24 minute 1500m swim. I'm thinking there have to be some strong currents slowing everybody down (it is in the ocean). I'm targeting 30 flat. Or favorable currents and a 22.

I've been wanting a new wetsuit for a while now. I've had mine since 2005 and it has many many many fingernail tears around the legs. Maybe its time...

My kid (age 19 in college) is playing college water polo. They were in the pool at the same time as I was when I swam yesterday (weird labor day hours). They were doing a 10x200 set on the 2:30 and for every interval they missed they had to do an extra 200 but every time they hit the interval at 2:15 they got to cut a 200 off. They were able to shave 3 200s off by making it on the 2:15. Meanwhile, in the shallow end is me doing 10x100 on the 1:45. Damn those kids are smoking fast. I need to do a relay race with my kid!

Happy short week ladies!

Interesting week last week.
1: Got in 2 rounds of physio and my FIRST "RUN" since Aug 12th. It was pretty short and learn-to-run-ish but it's progress. Physio is super happy with my progress. Aiming to slowly increase the running every 2nd day. If I can get to 1hr before we fly out, then I'll probably start the marathon.
2: I did a butt-ton of riding and scored tons of QOMs on Strava. Stupid Strava. I love & hate you. New bike should arrive today (GAH it's killing me). I actually decided to join P's club after all. Lots of the club members were asking me to join and P actually said "you should join, I want you to ride with us - oh and I haven't forgotten that I owe you your b-day ride..." :-) (I call it progress)
3: We viewed and made a written offer on a 10ac parcel in exactly the location we wanted. Fingers crossed but not probable.

This week:
- Run 3x
- Ride 3x - on my NEW BIKE Wheee!!!
- Physio 1x & exercises every day I dont "run"
- Skate 2x (yay! skating start on Sat!)
- Hopefully having our offer accepted :-)

Hi ladies!

I hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend. Check out the view from my campsite :D

As expected, I had a good week.

<quote> This week should be a good one. My goals are daily correctives and p/rehab, some attempted yoga, 4 rides, 3 swims. I have a doctor's appointment on Friday and last week we started some "pre-running moves" (steps, lunges, SL work) so hopefully the progress continues. </quote>

I got in the 2 yoga sessions, 4 rides (2 trainer, 2 outdoor), 3 swims (1 pool, 2 ocean) plus a quick hiking and overnight camping trip -- I didn't fully do my daily correctives and p/rehab in the mountains but got those in the other days. Still no running but happy with the progress I'm making and am feeling better every week so I'll keep on keeping on.

This week, I'm adding some band work back into my p/rehab program and may be able to try the elliptical (under supervision). Planning 3 swims, 3 bikes, 2 yoga sessions and daily correctives and p/rehab.

Hope everyone has a great week!

First time doing this one. Know it? Is it a fun one? Picked it based on timing - will be the last race of my season. I figure the roar of airplanes flying overhead will make me go faster... Figured to race and then surf my way back up the coast to SLO, stopping wherever has waves.

I've never done the race but I've run, biked, and swum there many times. The swim will depend on the day but is tucked between two jetties, both the bike and run course are flat. It should be a fast course.

If I'm running by then I'll come join. If I'm not, I'll likely volunteer. If you need any LA tips, don't hesitate to hit me up.

A lot of my teammates are doing this one, mostly the sprint, several are looking to qualify for nationals due to the small (by Southern California standards) field at this race. A bunch did it last year and we have even more going this year, they all liked it.

Thanks, it's slow progress but I know if I can get up to 1hr non-stop running, that I can finish a marathon, even if I do a 10&1 run/walk approach. 2.5 weeks to go. Eeek! :-)

Nice to hear the womens are having some better days!

Last week's goals:
swim x 2: win
bike x 1: FAIL. Should have gone Monday night - thought I'd have time Wednesday, but no dice.
run x 4: win with 6
core/strength x 4: win

Rode down to MI on Friday evening - got quite chilly after the sun set, but we had a beautiful weekend of weather all 'round. I did get a couple of runs in - 12k on Sat & 9k on Sun - though it was mostly just on sun-baked country roads. I did run to Nike Park, which is an old Nike missile launch site that now has a remote-controlled aircraft flying field with one of the funniest warning signs I've ever seen:

And on the way back I saw what I swore looked like a wooden sculpture of a dragon with a bazooka that turned out to be just a lopped-off tree with some interesting limbs. I had to take my husband for a walk to check it out to make sure I wasn't insane (or simply hallucinating at the end of a punishingly hot and sweaty run), but he agreed with me.

Sunday's run took me along some more shaded roads near Stony Creek, which was much more pleasant.

Looking east from Telegraph Rd.

I love the intersection of War Rd (where the farm that hosts the rally is) and N Stony Creek Rd - just a beautiful, peaceful place.

But really, most of my view of the weekend was more like this:

And I'm pretty happy about that.

This week's goals:
swim x 1
bike x 1 (just to make sure my tri bike is functional - haven't rode it in a year)
run x 2
core/strength x 1
mobility/stretch x 2

Have a little women's tri (500m-15km-4km - doing it because it's a friend's 1st year as race director) on Saturday, then Sunday we pack up to go backcountry canoeing for 4 nights plus another couple of nights of drive-in camping, leaving Monday morning. I am hugely stoked about the trip; not so much about the tri. I'm sure I'll have fun, and it's the only multisport race I have this year, but I'm having trouble getting excited about it.

Yay for running AP!

My last week was pretty boring (all the fun stuff seems to be happening this week) but I did my first club TT (came last; should have sucked it up and practiced more on the TT bike). I did get out 3 more times in addition to the TT so that was good considering F/S/S was taken up by socialising.

I did sort out all the bike supplies though (thanks edbikebabe for the cube shelf idea) and so things are looking less garage-sale down there.

So this week I have physio (marking the 6 month anniversary of my MCL injury), another TT (for which I wanted to use the TT bike) and a goal to get out on the bike a lot. Also, a haircut!

Great pics again MistressK.
