Would like to know if testing showed a center pull front brake system better than having the front cable exposed on the left front side of the head tube. I would venture a guess that having just the cable running down the front would have been more aero than having the bigger housing sitting out in the wind.

Also is there enough room when the bladder is in to also place maybe a tube, lever and Co2 inside?

1. I don't know about testing but within a week the cable on the side put a dent on the paint... (I went with tririg after that)
2. Yes, I have done that myself.

Shiv is all set for 2016.
New Crank, replaced front break, moved saddle for new fit.
Kind of sad to put it away for the winter.
Would add picture, but couldn't figure it out.

Not very good at bike stuff but would I be able to just add profile design or other s bend bars to my 2015 shiv elite with the aluminum cockpit? just not digging the ski bends. would they be able to just slide into the spot that the old ones are in?

Anyone put a Tri Rig SIGMA XF stem any issues? How did it look and function? Looking to clean up the front end on my Shiv Elite. I also have the Omega brake on the front as well so would run bare cable as well.

Just started the Di2 conversion on my 2012 Shiv. Have the standard base bars. Is there anyway to hide the E tube from the bullhorn shifters to the junction box at the stem? Looks like I may have to drill a hole in the base bar to fish the wire in.

New Shiv [ In reply to ]

Just picked up a New-Old-Stock Shiv, upgrading from a Kestrel Talon. While the comfort was a nice upgrade, I'm completely blown away with the handling. I think my only actual complaint is the brakes which will likely be replaced soon. I searched the thread, but has anyone tried upgrading just the pads?

I thought I'd give credit where it's due. The seatpost binder was defective virtually out of the gate and I was concerned about the repair vs replacement. A Specialized rep assured me they internally test post-repair to make sure they will hold up (ok, I'll admit I thought the guy was just giving me a bullcrap customer service line). After 1-2 days, the rep called me back and said the repair did not pass their internal QC process and they will be sending me a 2016 replacement. Another bonus being I've been told 2016's have a revised binder bolt that should not fail. Thank you Specialized for standing behind your product (I know there are Specialized employees who watch this thread). For what it's worth, this is my 4th new Specialized bike, which includes an Hard Rock many years ago, 2 Epics and now the Shiv, that's on top of my new Evade helmet, Propero helmet, 3 pairs of shoes, gloves, GB fit insoles, saddles, I can go on. My point being I'm not sure how I'd feel about buying another Specialized bike this this was "repaired" and it failed again at a bad time.

Hey Everyone,
My name is Clayton Anderson and I'm the Community and Social Media Specialist here at Specialized. As many of you have seen, We have introduced a new bike today at Kona, S-Works Shiv. I would like to extend my help with any questions that you may have. I will answer as many as I can and will be more than happy to get the information from our engineers and designers if needed.

Looking at the 2016 shiv elite or expert. Are there any reviews on the turn cranks that are on the elite? What crank length are on the large in the elite and expert

Both the shiv and b2 series were top choices after my bike fit. High stack short reach. Any pro cons between the felt and shiv

I swapped out the pads for Kool Stop Salmon pads....world of difference! One of the best, cheap upgrades you can do.

I am really glad I switched. the Shiv seems to be a more stable on descents which makes it a more comfortable bike (less tense)

the shiv is def better descending but the b2 handles a bit better in crosswinds.

Thanks. Do you know if there is any difference beside color in the 2015 vs 2016 models?

no idea but I don't think the frame has changed at all over the last 3 years or so.
