Nicolas, I have the power2max Type S with 130BCD rings. If I want to use just a single chainring, do I need to replace the chainring bolts? Thanks,
Dave

You could also use Shims & keep the original Bolts

Hey,

I've got the P2M on my TT bike already, I would like to fit a P2M on my road bike and my training bike, I've got rotor 3D24 cranks on all my bikes at the moment, I was looking on the P2M site and can't see the classic P2M listed for rotor 3D24 crankset, I'll be ordering from Ireland also, can you tell me is there another P2M to suit my cranks ?

Cheers,

Hi Zipp,

the Classic for 3D is no more - the Type S is the model for you.

What is the advantage of the Type S over the Classic? It seemed a big jump in price for no obvious benefit unless I've missed something?

The Type S highlights are that it's lighter, compatible with all aero chain rings, and has better frame compatibility. It's an evolution of the Classic with lots of small improvements (LED visible from the outside, not tied to Renata batteries, etc).

Hi Nicolas,
I tried that site but the business owner told me "I'm sorry to say we are no longer stocking the Power2max power meters anymore. We do have a limited number of power meters in stock but it's slim pickings..."
I am currently waiting to hear if they have a Gossamr classic Power2max.

I am a bit wary of buying from a site that will soon no longer be offering Power2max. If they do happen to have what I want, how would the returns policy and warranty work if I needed to use it?

Yes thanks, they do not have the Power2max model I was looking for.
The new Austrailian based distributor has been very slow to respond. Does not bode well for support, so I've decided to purchase another brand of power meter.

I was more surprised by the closing down notice more than the loss of p2m as a brand.

I'm also a bit pissed as local support was a big part of my p2m purchase decision. srm as always was too expensive and the NZ powertap agents are completely useless ( as well as overpriced )
In hindsight I would have spent the extra $200 on a Quarq had I known this was coming.

Hi Nicolas,

I went to change out chainrings today on a FSA Classic and unfortunately it appears that one of the little silver screws attaching the powermeter unit to the crank was stripped by the shop I had install the setup a while back. Would it be possible to get the specifications for these bolts or order a replacement set? On a bit of a time crunch with a road race on Saturday.

Thanks.

Hi - I have a couple of questions about selecting a power2max power meter for my Felt F65X cyclocross bike. I currently have an FSA Gossamer Pro Compact (110 BCD) BB386EVO crankset in a BB386 bottom bracket.

Is the power2max Classic FSA Gossamer power meter/cranks compatible with my BB386 bottom bracket. I realize that with the Classic version, an adapter would be necessary to accommodate the 24mm spindle in the bottom bracket (30mm), but is this the only fitment issue? The outer diameter of the bottom bracket measured about 54mm.

Are the Classic FSA Gossamer power meter/cranks and the Type-S FSA Gossamer BB386EVO power meter/cranks durable enough for occasional cyclocross or gravel races?

Are the Classic and Type S power meter/cranks shipped with additional shims to adjust chainline if needed?

What is the estimated lead time for delivery of the above power meters/cranks to Indiana, USA.

Thanks in advance!

According power2max then Classic model is not compatible with BB386 bottom bracket.

But you could try to see if it fits, I have just fitted a Power2max Classic / Rotor 3D24 on a BH G6 frame with BB386 bottom bracket.
That worked fine and there is plenty of space around powermeteret on the side which faces the frame.

HI Green,

first of all thanks to Tillquist for pitching in!

The Gossamer Classic won't fit because the inner diameter is 53mm, so it will collide. The FSA Gossamer BB386EVO does not have this restriction, it's the model that will fit your needs.

Regarding gravel / cyclocross: the Gossamer cranks are forged aluminum cranks, so sturdy. Sure thing you can ride gravel or cyclocross with them.

We have the EVO model in stock and ready to ship. Delivery takes about 4 business days.

I hope this helps,

Cheers

Thanks Tillquist and Nicolas. I appreciate your quick responses.

Nicolas - Is the power2max FSA Gossamer BB386EVO shipped with extra shims so the chain line can be adjusted if needed? For some reason, the stock FSA Gossamer BB386 crankset on my current bike was assembled with the non-drive crank arm positioned 7mm further outboard from the down tube than the drive crank arm. The LBS that built my bike said they confirmed with Felt that this crankset was supposed to be offset in this manner, but I can't understand why anyone would intentionally position the crank arms asymmetrically about the down tube (i.e. the bike center line) unless there was a personal fitting issue being addressed. In any event, I just want to check to see if the power2max FSA Gossamer BB386 is shipped with shims so I can ensure the crank arms are positioned symmetrically about the down tube and the chain line can be optimized if needed.

Thanks again!

Hi Green,

The BB386 comes with spacer sets for BB30 and BBRight, but if the frame is indeed a BB386 then there are no spacers that need to be used.

For the power2max Type S track, should we do a zero for every session/ride or only when changing the front chainring?

Hi bungis,

We recommend zeroing before every ride. It doesn't hurt to do it.

I am installing a new Power2Max Type S FSA K-Force Light power meter crankset on a bike with a FSA MegaEXO BB. According to the installation instructions the crank spindle needs to be greased where it contacts the BB bearings.

What grease should I use? I have Phil Woods Waterproof grease, will this work?

Since the specific type of grease to use is not specified perhaps it doesn't matter, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks.

What is the ETA on the Type S Campy 4 bolt? And can more than one set of chainrings be purchased when buying the powermeter? Thanks.

@swimgreg3:

standard grease will be fine. Grease is usually waterproof, so all good :).

@rbrnut: We're pretty good on 170 and 175 crank length. 172.5mm will remain a bit of headache for the next few weeks.

@power2max, quick question: I've been using a classic with a Rotor 3D+ on my Supersix Evo, and I recently just ordered a Trek Emonda SLR that should be here in about three weeks. I'd love to transfer my Classic spider over; if I put a Rotor 3D24 on the new bike is that a possibility?

Thanks!

Unfortunately not - the spider to crank interface is different, that's why we have different models.
