Hi,

The FSA BB386EVO models (both Gossamer BB386EVO and K-Force Light BB386EVO) and the Rotor 3D30 or 3D+ would fit your needs. You would have to change the bottom bracket on the S2, though.

Hi Nicolas,
As far as how often..........
Here is the response I got from a person trying to help me out with the Garmin file:

Hello Fuji_racer,

The only software I have found that has complete editing and fixing capabilities is the Fit File Repair Tool.
I bought the full pro version and use it to edit my own files plus repair corrupt files.
http://fitfilerepairtool.info/

I ran your file thru the Tool and it found no data corruption except for the fact that the file stopped abruptly and the ending headers were missing.

The problem might be with your cadence sensor, battery, magnets, something.
Your 1000 recorded 27 "Cadence Low Alerts". All of the alerts corresponded to a zero or null cadence value in the file except the last 2 just before the file stops abruptly.
Might be a coincidence or the cause of the file stopping abruptly and corrupting the ending headers.

The alerts are for 1-3 seconds with 3 at 8-12 sec. If you did not actually stop pedaling several times then the cadence sensor is screwing up.

So....here ya go. Fixed with the Fit File Repair Tool.

As far as if it is every ride or randomly .......... when it last occurred, it was every ride after it started and got progressively worse until I changed out the battery.

Changed the battery out 2x's on one bike and only once on the other when it happened (but I don't ride that bike as frequently.

I guess I could set up and try my wrist worn Garmin.

What are your thoughts ............

Hi,

It would be helpful to have a look at one of the files. Could you contact us via the support email?

thanks and best

Let me wait for it to happen again (I have not rode since). I have (unfortunately) already fixed that file. If you think it might still help, I will send it but I doubt it will be useful now that it is "fixed".
Thanks

and ...................................... no problems last night.
I am beginning to think it's something else.
Maybe just the Garmin Edge (1000) head unit. Not bad but just being it's fluky self.
Or maybe my wife was running the clothes dryer (upstairs above garage)--- I have HEARD that this could be of POTENTIAL issue (outside interference).
Whatever- it's not the battery (since I didn't change that out since last power drops and I had none last night).
I don't know. Scratching my head but happy it stopped for now.

Hi Y-Tri,

a sure fire way to disrupt any ANT+ transmission is to have faulty microwave oven that emits its 400 watts - this will obliterate any transmission. This is extremely unlikely, but what I want to express is that strong emitters can always disrupt transmission.

Indoors the risk of interference is much higher, because a lot of different types of devices transmit on the 2.4Ghz band - wifi, bluetooth, ANT+, etc. They could interfere. On the open road you won't see that kind of stuff.

All my ant+ devices were shitting the bed cause of the wifi. I had to change the channel and I haven't had a drop since!

it was easy to figure out cause I also had drops on the speed sensor and the heart rate monitor so it couldn't just be the PM.

The entire event (IM) is like "death by 1000 cuts" and the best race is minimizing all those cuts and losing less blood than the other guy. - Dev

Hi,
I'm trying to figure out if I could use one Power2max on my two bikes and whether I'd be able to use my chain rings.
1) Cervelo S2. Believe it is a 2009 model.
FSA Team Issue carbon crank set with 170mm cranks
FSA chainrings are 130BCD, 50/38 Has "N10" written on them
Bottom bracket: FSA Mega Exo BB 6200

2) Cervelo P2 carbon. Believe it is 2010 or 2011
FSA Gossamer crank set with 172.5mm cranks
FSA chainrings are 130BCD 53/39. Has "S10" written on them

Would be happy to use a Classic Power2max.
What do you recommend?

Cheers

Hi,

the FSA Gossamer Classic will fit. You use 130BCD. Regarding the chain rings: I would check if they are worn before moving them over and whether the small chain rings have little indentations around the bolt holes. If they do they will warp when installed on the power meter and we recommend changing them.

Hi Nicolas,
Thanks, very helpful.
I am in New Zealand. Where should I buy them from? The owner of the web site in NZ that used to sell them says he is no longer an agent. The Australian site does not allow selection of shipping destinations outside Aus.
Thanks.

Hi Nicolas,
I tried that site but the business owner told me "I'm sorry to say we are no longer stocking the Power2max power meters anymore. We do have a limited number of power meters in stock but it's slim pickings..."
I am currently waiting to hear if they have a Gossamr classic Power2max.

I am a bit wary of buying from a site that will soon no longer be offering Power2max. If they do happen to have what I want, how would the returns policy and warranty work if I needed to use it?

Hi Nicolas,

I have just received a Power2Max 2015 type S Campagnolo 2015 4 bolt PM.

The crank came unmounted on the spider. When the two are joined the fit is loose, there is a few millimetres of rocking there. This means that when the locking is tightened at all the crank arm moves to where the pressure is applied and ends up not centred on the spider, it's almost on the battery cover. This doesn't seem right, am I missing something obvious?

There is a hole in the crank that lines up with a hole in the spider but I can't work out why it's there?

Thanks.

Hi Rob,

Did you check that the crank is properly seated on the spider when you tighten the lock ring? It sounds the crank was not fully inserted.

Regarding the hole: Campagnolo added that to access the circlip on the bearing cups on 5-bolt models.

Thank you for your reply Nicholas.

Yes, the crank is flat with the spider.

It is so loose that it is not possible not to insert it properly. It allows for a good few millimetres rocking either way, so naturally when the lock ring is tightened the crank moves, therefore it is not going to be centred on the spider.

That clears up the hole mystery, thanks.

Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I spoke to my colleagues from European support. They will be in touch with you today. Unfortunately I haven't had a 4 bolt in my hands yet. I expect there is a misunderstanding in installation, though, as the interface between the cranks and spider hasn't changed.

Thanks Nicolas. I look forward to their email.

Here's a quick video showing the crank/spider interface. It starts a bit out of focus but ends well ; )

Hi.
What is the proper torque for six bolts connecting FSA Gossamer crank arm with Powermeter unit? In this option:

I can't find it anywhere.

Nicolas, I have the power2max Type S with 130BCD rings. If I want to use just a single chainring, do I need to replace the chainring bolts? Thanks,
Dave

It depends on which chainring you use and what nuts you have. I ran Wolf Tooth and Race Face on my TypeS without replacing the Praxis nuts, but with the Rotor QCX1 I had to get singlespeed-specific chainring bolts.
