Cool thanks, I haven't poked around with the modern GC but I'll try it as well

Finally did another manual add into Connect and did it the same way I did previously, worked fine so wanted to just say I confirmed this method seems to be working.

It works with the Modern version but not with Garmin Connect Mobile manual activities :) That said the mobile app properties are limited, maybe the Modern app is doing something different.

That would require one of those not windows phones so haven't tested mobile at all :)

I'll retest the quick add next manual work out to see if they updated something overall or if it still only works if you go to the activities screen then add vs the widgit add.

Do you know when the Workout Library will have the feature allowing me to create folders to better organize workout types? I think one of the YouTube videos I saw on the beta mentioned this was in the works.

Thanks

Not sure if this was mentioned already.

I just looked at a bike workout and while looking at some lap data I noticed that it says "Pwr. Bal. 51.7/48.3%" which I would assume means 51.7% left, 48.3% right. However, when I look at the same data in GoldenCheetah and Garmin Connect, they both say 48% left, 52% right.

I checked another workout and see the same thing.

Sorry I don't know development timelines.

TP flips it, it's known, it's being fixed :)

TrainingPeaks Athlete Edition

Can someone explain to me exactly what this does? I have been using WKO+ for years, but don't know if this online thing has anything to offer me. Is it only for if you are using a trainingpeaks coach? I am looking for something to just help me organize and plan my upcoming season.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks, Jeff

From what I understand WKO is a lot more in depth. The basic athlete edition is effectively a calendar with the ability to upload workouts and get a simple look at the data, not much different from Strava or Garmin Connect. The Premium Edition adds a whole bunch of analysis options as well as some other extras.

At a guess I would imagine using WKO for analysis and Training Peaks Basic for planning would probably have you covered.

A fair bit of WKO3 has been rolled into TrainingPeaks. You can use each on their own or together. TrainingPeaks is online and has mobile apps and can sync to your calendar (iCAL, Google, Outlook, etc...) and/or get email notifications of tomorrows workouts. There is a good comparison of the two here...

I have a question for you ..

Right now, i'm using 2 trainning peak account with premium membership for my girlfriend and myself.

We don't use the planning calendar at all since we have our own and i'm only interested into analysing data ..

The question is, do i have to buy 2 version of WKO+ for both of us ... or with one version i can add as many peoples as i want ?

Thanks !

Sorry for my english ;)

I have one other question. Do Shared Libraries have expiration dates? I had a couple workout libraries shared with me last week, now they have disappeared. When they did appear, they blew out my own personal library (although it was small, maybe 30 workout right now) The shared libraries has 2000+ combined.

You would just need one copy of WKO

Rodney, Thanks for offering help on ST....

I have an issue where I cannot upload my bike files (TCX format) from Garmin connect to Training Peaks BETA. I have used the same process for years...Save file from Garmin Connect to my computer hard drive as TCX file, then upload to specific workouts my coach puts on TP. I seem to be able to upload run files, but not bike files. I get an error message after about 15 seconds of attempting to process. I can switch to Classic and upload without issue, but not in BETA. Any ideas?

I am not using the auto-sync.

Thanks again for any help..

There is a problem with large file sizes. TCX files are ridiculously bloated. As a comparison a 1hr run (GPS and HR) is roughly 3MB in size vs. 84kb in FIT format and I have bike files into the 20+MB range for 3-4 hours with HR, CAD, PWR and GPS. Regardless it is known and if you are stuck because your device only outputs TCX files there are three workarounds.

Garmin AutoSync
Device Agent
TP Classic

thanks for the input and answers. I can certainly work with this now that I know the issue, the options, and that this is a TP issue and not some hidden technical issue on my end.

Thanks again..

I added the new Power chart to my dashboard but its not able to display any power data, regardless of the setting I choose.

Power Profile charts are based on Watt per kilo. Add a Metric entry with your weight

I was able to add the weight metric to a training session, do I have to add that for all of my rides to see that power display or is there a global metric I can add somewhere? It would be a real PITA to add a metric to every ride!!!

You just need to add one Daily Metrics entry and it will use that. Add a manual activity, under Add Other select Metrics, add a weight and save.

Excellent! Thanks for your help. Couple more questions though...

If I add a new metric going forward will all the calculations be based on the newest metric? It seems the data will not be accurate if this is the case as the calculations for all my previous power files will be based on my current weight and not the weight I was when I did a specific ride?

Re: Official TrainingPeaks Thread [noxious] [ In reply to ]

Its based on the weight for that time period, not the current weight.

If the last weight I entered was 70Kg and I go out and ride 280W it will calculate 4W/KG based on that weight. If next week I enter 69Kg it won't go back and recalculate last weeks ride but if I go out and ride the same 280W ride it will calculate a higher W/KG for that ride.

You can set a time period for the Power Profile (it defaults to Dashboard time period) and see trends over time.

Hey, I saw the cyber Monday sale on TP. Can existing subscribers take advantage of this, and get 12 months tacked on to the end of the current subscription?

Cheers!
