100 walks/100 days challenge
With all the injured womens, and some of us having trouble staying motivated as we limp along, I was wondering if there is enough interest to have a 100 walks/100 days challenge. If there is interest we'll come up with some "rules," mostly to keep us accountable taking into consideration injued status.

Maybe it should be 100 moves/100 days (eg have to do some activity each day) to accomodate various injuries.

Reply here if you're interested.

I'm not currently injured (knock on wood). But what a great idea! I'll give moral support. And I love the idea of doing something - everyday.

Good luck all.

I wear an activity monitor, so I could commit to 100X100/100 days challenge (10,000 steps). As long as I don't have to commit to the speed of those steps, I'm in ;-)

I'm in for 30 min a day. That was my plan before I did something to my back & moving became painful. I've become much too skilled at couch intervals.

I'm thinking that means getting my heartrate up - either traditional exercise or playing with my son or yardwork. Or - since winter has come back with a vengance today, snow shoveling.

I'm in. I like "movements" since I'll be non-weight bearing for about two weeks, but it'll encourage me to get off the couch for a smidge as soon as I am free from needing to elevate 55min/hr. Or maybe getting around on crutches counts! (I am so dreading this part...)

I bet you can get some arm/upper body exercises to do on the couch!

OK. It looks like there is interest in a "100 days of movement" challenge. Some questions and suggestions:
1) when do we start?
2) does anyone know how to set up a challenge so that we get automatic entries using the ST log?
3) so for "rules," how about the following:
--each participant defines her goal for the 100 days (based on injury/recovery status)
--no doubles/make up days (to reign in the overachievers amngst us and to motivate the procrastinators amongst us)
Thoughts?

I'm pretty sure TC knows how to set up challenges. She's currently on spring break so taking a vaca away from ST. She'll mostly likely be back next week.

Sounds good to me. I like the "no doubles" rule - cause I'd totally take advantage.

Aim to start after Easter? Although that's still a few weeks away .

Here's hoping for good physio news for me today - I'm antsy to get going again.

to start a challenge, go to the "challenges" on the ST training log and in the upper right hand corner there is a place to select "new challenge." That will guide you through setting it up.

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine
If you're injured and need some sympathy, PM me and I'm very happy to write back.

I'm in!

I took a nice walk with a co-worker yesterday and there is another one who asks me if I ever walk instead of run. I might start a walking club here. It will be tough with the yucky weather still but on nice days I can get out at lunchtimeish.

Easter is almost a month out, 4/20. Why not get started April 1st?

Yes, I agree that we should get started soon while we have some momentum. EdBB would that be OK with you? How was your news?

Soon is great.

Got the news I expected. My back is improving, but not better. No running, speed walking, swimming. Biking was a maybe. Honestly, it hurt SO MUCH that I'm okay taking my time. There is no way I'm willing to regress.

You mean you don't want to have 25 rules like some other certain challenges????? :-)

April 1 works. That would make July 9th the last day (if I figured correctly.)

One issue with the no doubles and using the training log is that if one would do two different workouts in a day, they would both log to the challenge.

Ha! Yes I'm into KISS. So we'll make the it a honor system "no doubles to make up missed workouts" rule. Sounds like April 1 works as a start date. I'll get the challenge set up this weekend, and we can start a new thread where womens can post their goal for the challenge and progress.

Good news EdBB. I'm out with serious back injury myself so I get it
