A few items have started arriving here at my office today.

It will be nice to get these over to Maurice on Monday.

He has delayed his departure until these items arrive as he just can't get over how thoughtful folks have been

He'll be continuing on his journey once he gets fitted out over the weekend.

He will be waiting for the care package to arrive before rolling out!

We had the participation of a local bike shop (local to where he is right now)

I work in a welding shop and related this story to the guys yesterday. To a man (and these are some pretty hardcore freakies we're talking about here) all were impressed that this took place..and some volunteered to head out west and track down those responsible in the first place. Given the company they keep I'd hate to be those people should any decide to follow through on those words. It's been said before by a lot of others but you have done a great thing here..and it has restored a lot of faith in humanity to many more people than just those on the forum. Certainly not what most people take triathletes to be like. Well done good and faithfull servant...

Kentinger - it was a group effort and a few of us simply facilitated this - some folks here have gone WAY beyond generous - in either cash or product donations - I was and will be for the longest time, amazed at this community.

I have also had a lot of messages form people who are not in a position to contribute - but wished for their thoughts and messages to to be forwarded to Maurice

Not sure of the specific bike - it is a touring bike - will have more details next week.

he is aware of the Forum policy right? No pics or it doesn't exist. Maybe the bike shop guys could take his pic once they get him set to go.
And about the amazingness that is this forum I totally agree. Most people with (what can only be termed as) dispensable income wouldn't think to contribute to something like this. We see it here on a regular basis. Funny how a lot of times..things I see or hear about deplete my faith in human nature (like the people on the Air France flight that are all alive today but are suing them for $330mil)...and they happen all the time..yet one small (in reality what took place is barely a blip on the radar for some people out there) gesture like this sort of wipes the slate clean again. Kudos STers...for going against the grain once more.

It is surely a good thing we have done, but, admit it, isn't it a bit TNO-like?

Just kidding....I got my start over there

Mike.
