Hello,
I was recently training in lanzarote and one of the days my garmin edge 500 displayed the message that "Powermeter battery is running low". it was surprising as the power meter was only 3 months old, I changed the battery for a new one and went training again. the following day the same message was shown on the screen, again i got a new battery and installed it and went training, 2 days later i see the same message again. I have a funny feeling that the power meter is continuing to transmit even when my ride is over and is draining out the battery. what made me think this was it was when I turned on my garmin about an hour after training and it immediatly came up "power meter detected". any thoughts on this would be great?

Hi Greg,

the Rotor 3D 4-bolt is among the first to become available. If you order now it should be with us in one to two weeks and then go straight to you.

Any word on when then Rotor 3D Compact Type S will be shipping? I ordered back in December.

Question about batteries. How long should these last? Just changed mine couple of months ago and this morning it died midway through the session. They usually last me > 6months.
Also, I thought the battery indicator light should come on or turn red but that never seem to happen.

Thanks.

Hi 3Dealz,

normal lifespan is 400 hours. If you travel a lot with your bike or ride in cold conditions it can be lower.

I have a Garmin 500 that I am using with my P2M unit. Do I ever need to manually calibrate with the 500? I did it the first time just in case and while it took a while, it worked.
I removed and re-installed the crank yesterday and thought I would manually calibrate again, but it won't show a value. The power meter is detected and will show power/ cadence numbers, but it won't manually calibrate. I have tried a few times, even leaving it for a couple hours, but it still won't pull a value. It just stays on the calibration screen with blanks until I back out of it.

This manual calibration may not even be necessary, but I thought I would double check.

Hi smon,

there is no need to perform a manual zero (what Garmin calls "calibration"). Every time you coast for more than 2 seconds your power2max will do it.

Hey Nicholas,

Now that you are sponsoring team Movistar with a Campagnolo Type S Power2max, I was wondering, will this be available to the public too, and is there a timeframe there? Also, I'm assuming Campagnolo owners can use their existing cranks as long as they're Ultra Torque?

Thank you for your response.

Thomas

edit: my apologies I just saw that this was already addressed in the previous page.

No worries,

timeframe still is May. From Monday you will be able to reserve a unit. Unfortunately you can't use an existing Campagnolo crankset because the spider is integrated. You can use existing Campagnolo chain rings, though.

Cheers

curious which power meters will be compatible with my 2011 Cervelo p2 (mega exo BB). Interested in the Type S Rotor 3D or FSA Gossamer, my research says they should be compatible but thought I would check before pulling the trigger.

HI davetheharris,

both are compatible. My personal advice is always to take the Rotor if it's within your budget because it's such a nice product and you will have it for a long time. But you can't go wrong with either.

Cheers

I am looking to get my first power meter soon. I'm strongly leaning towards a Power2Max for a variety of reasons. I like the fact that the compact S series has no issues with aero rings. However, I'm having trouble finding info on other advantages of the new S series over the original model. Is there a good website comparing the two in detail? My searching has not been overly successful.

Also, for anyone who has or purchased an S series, what was the main reason to do so if you had a choice between it and the original model?

@paddyclk: first of all sorry that I missed your post. When you changed the battery, did you use a Renata? If it's another brand that could be at the source of the quick emptying, because other brands can create false contacts.

@Bo: we have put together a little guide on our site - you can find it here: http://www.power2max.com/...sic-selection-guide/

Hope that helps,

Nicolas,

Do you have the Type S Rotor 3D (165mm) cranks in stock, or what's the estimated lead-time? Also, the Praxis chain rings are available in the 110mm Shimano 4-hole configuration, correct? (I don't see them offered on the Praxis website)

Thanks,

Scott

@WiScott: We are receiving units next week to fill pre-orders and I expect the 110 and Shimano 110 will be available a week or two later. The Praxis Works chain rings come in the "normal" 5 bolt 110 pattern, not the 4-bolt.

@amccabe: glad to hear you are enjoying your power2max!

I'm about to pull the trigger on a Type S Rotor 3D in 110 BCD. If I order now, will this be fulfilled by the shipment coming in next week?

EDIT: I am in the UK.
